In an interview with the Australian broadcaster SBS, the deputy head of the Taliban’s cultural commission, Ahmadullah Wasiq, said women’s sport was considered neither appropriate nor necessary. “I don’t think women will be allowed to play cricket because it is not necessary that women should play cricket,” Wasiq said. “In cricket, they might face a situation where their face and body will not be covered. There are plenty of Muslim majority countries where women do not have to completely cover their bodies. Including Indonesia, home to nearly 13% of all the world's muslims. India, which is home to another 11% of the world's Muslims, had a study that said about two thirds of Muslim women report wearing burqas, though the study does say that it didn't define what it meant by a burqa, so it might have been up to interpretation. At any rate, Muslim women in India to not HAVE to wear them. In Nigeria, home to another 5% of the world's Muslims, there have been many efforts to ban hijabs and burqas, though Nigeria is nearly 50/50 Muslim/Christian, with most people at the top of national government being Christian. Turkey (4.5% of the world's Muslims) is the only majority Muslim state that actually *bans* women who work in public sectors from wearing any type of head covering. Lawyers, teachers, civil servants, etc. So, all in all, roughly a third of all the world's Muslims live in majority Muslim countries* that do not require women to cover their faces/bodies, and a couple even outright ban the practice. *correction as I'm typing this - India is not a majority Muslim country, they just have, like, a lot of people. We started to see this happening during the very first Gulf War and as graphics for games become more and more realistic, we're definitely going to see news agencies including a lot of that footage, even if they're completely unaware they're doing it. I've actually seen Fallout 4 footage shots appear in regular news stories that really can't seem to tell the difference and kind of get away with it until some gamer chimes in. A huge part of this problem is Adobe and Google footage that is easy to search and just as easily capable of being mixed with real world footage. Commissar SFLUFAN
Last member of Afghanistan’s Jewish community leaves country | Afghanistan | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Zebulon Simentov endured decades of war but was warned he might be kidnapped or killed by IS Quote The last member of Afghanistan’s Jewish community has left the country. Zebulon Simentov, who lived in a dilapidated synagogue in Kabul, kept kosher and prayed in Hebrew, endured decades of war as the country’s centuries-old Jewish community rapidly dwindled. But the Taliban takeover last month seems to have been the last straw. Moti Kahana, an Israeli-American businessman who runs a private security group that organised the evacuation, said on Wednesday that the 62-year-old Simentov and 29 of his neighbours, nearly all of them women and children, have been taken to a “neighbouring country”. Interestingly, he says that he had no issues with the Taliban during their last tenure in power.
