CitizenVectron
wsj.com WWW.WSJ.COM Good article on Ukraine's current offensive in Russia. They planned for months, and used drones and recon teams (sneaking across the border) to both destroy infrastructure as well as jam Russian radio/comms during the assault. They used western Strykers and Humvees to race past Russian towns without stopping to fight, getting as deep as they could before cementing into position. CitizenVectron
Ukraine did not inform the US or any other allied nation about its plan to invade Kursk, as they believe that Americans leaked their previous offensive to the Russians (and vetoed a second planned offensive): Just a moment... WWW.ECONOMIST.COM Additionally, Ukraine just stated yesterday that even though the UK has approved Storm Shadow cruise missiles to be used against targets in Russia, the US is vetoing it (will withdraw American aid if cruise missiles are used against Russia). CitizenVectron
Ukraine has started using their own new long-range weapon since the US won't allow American gear to be used. No one knows the exact details, but it's a "missile drone." Best theory based on photos is that it's effectively a cruise missile/drone hybrid (where the rocket gets the drone to a long-distance location, where the drone detaches and then strikes). Ukraine counts on new long-range weapon to bypass Western restrictions and hit deep into Russia APNEWS.COM Ukraine says it has a new homegrown long-range weapon that will allow it to strike deep into Russia without asking permission from allies. The name of the new weapon is (I think) the translation of a type of bread. The reason the word was chosen is that it is very difficult for Russians to pronounce. So much so, that in the early stages of the war the Ukrainians would use it as a checkpoint word for civilians they were allowing through their lines to make sure they weren't Russians in disguise. CitizenVectron
It also appears that Ukraine is attacking the Russian border between Kharkiv and Belgorod. Possibly a new offensive into Russia, or possibly just a skirmish.

CitizenVectron
Ukraine is apparently now using (successfully) FPV drones to take out ISR (recon) drones. 115 confirmed interceptions so far. They've also taken out at least 3 attack helicopters with FPV drones. Basically anything that moves in a relatively slow, stable line can be hit by these. 4

Yeah, it's something out of a Terminator film. I watched a video the other day from a Russian soldier's POV as Ukraine FPV drones screamed over their trench, back and forth, hunting for soldiers. The sound of the drone's quad rotors was like a human-monster wail. It was terrifying. It's the new sound of trench warfare, of little tiny metal grenades hovering over your position just waiting for signs of life so they can dive down and explode. I think more effective than their Soviet stock, but still less effective than the US hoped. This is mainly because, while main battle tanks still have a valid role in warfare, they are less effective in slog campaigns of trench and forest warfare where drones and ATGM are in use.
