Not that it matters anyway because the home should largely be democratic or at least deliberative for adults and older minors

Let’s put your kid against my niece. She is 5 but her favourite thing to do right now is to eat a bowl or 2 of gravy. . . . .nothing else. She got hooked on my moms turkey gravy from this past Xmas but when my sister makes it. She will tell her “nice job mom but it’s not as good as grandma, but a good try” Plus if they get KFC it’s 2 bowls of gravy, one for family and one for her. Did I mention she’s

Did I mention she’s 5 Mine is almost 5 but her diet is more, uh, varied than primarily gravy. There's nothing we've found she won't eat, and has been asking us for days if we can get some shrimp. My friends kid though, man he's very particular. Might minorly be on the spectrum or something but he's in OT because he only eats like 4 things, cheese pizza, pretzels, pb&j (only with specific type of jelly), and white american cheese. Maybe some snacks here or there, but no meat whatsoever.

Why not. Is that tofu? Hell yeah. My son, five, can be picky and if he says he won't eat something my youngest will follow along even if she loves it. I don't get it because he'd eat sushi with us just a year or so ago. His only exception is spicy food. If we say something is too spicy for him, he'll eat it come hell or five bottles of water. Kids are fun.
Guest
I think all little ones go through phases of being more/less adventurous with food. My youngest has always been the best at trying and appreciating a variety of foods. I used to think I was a picky eater because I didn’t like much, but it turns out that was largely because growing up my mom made very few different things. It was spaghetti, lasagna, brisket/potatoes, hamburger helper, and a few random things nearly every week for my childhood. Then I got married when I was 19 and my wife is a fantastic cook and made me try new stuff. Turns out I love food ❤️. So then I just assumed it was my mom’s lack of skill in the kitchen that meant we just ate those few things. It was until my mid 20s that I realized it’s actually that my dad is super picky and those meals were the only things mom knew he definitely would like 😂 My mom is actually a really good cook and even better baker, but my old man has the palate of a 4 year old. We too think she is on the spectrum, and we are pretty sure has ADD. She has certain food she will eat and a ton she won’t go near. My mom could make cabbage rolls (my fav) The one will dig in and the older niece will ask for something else. If you can dunk it in ketchup, she seems fine with it

Ha, that's my brother. Even my picky-ish five year old has a more developed palate. I don't get it. There's so much delicious food out there. Binging with Babish had an episode on tteokbokki like a week or two back. I think I have everything I'd need to make it. Maybe I'll try making that tonight. 11 minutes ago, silentbob said: yeah she’s more than gravy, and she too will try anything, but her sister is very much like your friends’ kid. A lot of what she does is learned behaviors from watching others because giving her verbal directions don't really work. Either way, my son doesn't like eating the crust of his pizza or the crust on his sandwiches. My daughter somehow figured how that means you're not supposed to eat the edges of food and took that to the extreme. Pancakes end up with the centers chewed out. She rips burgers in half, eats the center, and leaves the edges. She somehow tries to eat the center out of cupcakes and just makes a huge mess. Nuggets are peeled and only the chicken is eaten. Again, kids are fun.
Uaarkson
When I was a kid, I used to impale my chicken nuggets on my sprite straw, then take a gulp of sprite with the little piece of chicken stuck at the tip. Flavor explosion.

Joe
I was such a little shit food wise as a kid. My dad was giving us all this amazing food for dinner and all I wanted were Kid Cuisines and Spaghetti O’s because it’s what I saw on TV. I hope my kids don’t turn out like that. Fizzzzle
I was a notoriously picky eater until high school, when I started hanging out with Asians. I knew better than to ever refuse food if I ate at someone else's house. Before I knew if you cut me open I would basically bleed kimchi, gochujang, or pho. These days I'll eat basically anything. The only thing I'll never eat again was something I ate in Japan that was referred to me as "octopus testicle." I found that odd, since cephalopods do not have testicles. It was one of the grossest things I've ever put in my mouth.

Quote Octopuses are gonochoric and have a single, posteriorly-located gonad which is associated with the coelom. The testis in males and the ovary in females bulges into the gonocoel and the gametes are released here. The gonocoel is connected by the gonoduct to the mantle cavity, which it enters at the gonopore.[23] An optic gland creates hormones that cause the octopus to mature and age and stimulate gamete production. The gland may be triggered by environmental conditions such as temperature, light and nutrition, which thus control the timing of reproduction and lifespan.[61][62] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octopus#Reproduction Quote Testicle or testis (plural testes) is the male reproductive gland or gonad in all animals, including humans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testicle
