CitizenVectron
Musk is going to attempt to launch a nuclear reactor at some point, and when it breaks up mid-launch and sprinkles uranium over sub-Saharan African, he will say "Their grandchildren will thank me for spreading the light of consciousness to the stars." And then millions will get cancer.
mclumber1
It's fairly rare to have a second stage reenter over land. Most of the time these launch companies will intentionally deorbit over the ocean, but this one failed to relight it's engine after it's mission was over, leaving it in orbit for an extended period of time. I wonder if this will delay Crew 2, NASA might be worried about the engine reliability after this. Losing the second stage engine=abort. Elon soon gonna hate the FAA as much as he hates the SEC. CayceG
So Elon basically tried to schedule a launch at a time when it wasn't enough notice to get an FAA inspector there. I've had contractors do that shit to me. It's infuriating. Fuck that.
mclumber1
Elon and the FAA throw shade at each other like they've been married for 32 years.
Kal-El814
Throw Elon under one of the rockets during launch, it'd solve a lot of problems.
Jwheel86
SN11 blew mid air, possibility they triggered the Flight Termination System (a small bomb on the rocket to destroy it if there is a safety issue).
mclumber1
I'm surprised they decided to launch during the heavy fog conditions. Not that this particular mishap would have been prevented if the air was clear, but it would make it a lot easier to find the potential cause if visibility was good. In other SpaceX news, a press conference was held this morning that announced the last 2 of 4 astronauts that will fly aboard a privately chartered Dragon spacecraft. The launch is supposed to occur as early as September and last 3 or so days. It's a free flying mission, so it won't be visiting the Space Station. This mission will mark the first 100% commercial manned mission (no government/military astronauts), and it will also include the youngest American to ever fly in space - a 29 year old cancer survivor. The Dragon is also going to have a badass cupola window where the docking port would normally be, for 180 degree views for its passengers. The booster was previously used on the Crew-1 launch from November, and the Capsule was from the Demo-2 launch last May.
