In principle, I'm all for continual content releases... if it's priced reasonably. I fear that won't be the case.

We already know its priced unreasonably -- the DLC is essentially the difference between the standard and the gold edition.

I always wait until Ubi games get to 40%+ off (I would expect this one will get there by Black Friday/Christmas) and eligible for the extra 20% discount for spending 100 Ubisoft "loyalty units", and that makes the DLC price feel less excessive.

I'll be streaming this a couple of days early. Plan on getting the edition that lets me play a few days early I don't give a shit about the reviews. I'll enjoy it as long as it's not COMPLETE shit.

Shit. I didn't know they had an edition to play early. I will do the same and take a gamble.

I'll wait for the reviews Monday and then decide. Like I wanna get it, but at the same time like sturgeon said it would probably be 40% off after a few months. Well maybe not, it is a Star Wars game, so if it reviews well at all it might sell pretty good. Can't really go off a game like Ass Creed Mirage being 50% off within 6 months since this is a way bigger IP.

Almost guaranteed it'll be on a slight discount for Black Friday. If it reviews good to great that will be when I snag it. Otherwise if it's middling, it's still interesting enough to me I might get it in a year or two when it's like 20 bucks.

The reviews will basically determine if I'm buying it on Tuesday or not. I specifically look at two outlets for my decision.

They’re lower than I thought they’d be.  Still interested, but I was hoping it would do much better than Avatar.

FF7 Rebirth could end up taking GOTY if nothing else exceeds expectations.  Indy, Dragon Age or AC might have a shot.

Saving Content - Scott Ellison II - 5 / 5

What Respawn did with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Massive has done with Star Wars Outlaws, and that’s creating a unique Star Wars experience we haven’t had before. Star Wars Outlaws does a lot of things, and at no point does it fumble with its ambition, and executes on it with truly epic moments, fun stealth, and freedom of choice. Massive Entertainment really knows how to make their game worlds feel lived in, and there’s no better setting than Star Wars, especially during the latter episodes of the original trilogy. Star Wars Outlaws epitomizes the Han Solo line, “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid” so wonderfully.

Sirus Gaming - Lexuzze Tablante - 10 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws’ impressive characters, staggering world-building, hooking story, amazing soundtrack, and engaging gameplay, make this the first authentic open-world experience that every Star Wars fan deserves. Massive Entertainment outdid themselves and it paid off.

Gameffine - Uphar Dutta - 95 / 100

Star Wars Outlaw is a dramatic action-adventure game, that takes your adventure to a whole new level with constant action. The graphics are destined to blow you away and the freedom of the open world will keep you hooked to the game for endless hours. It's not so challenging AI is unfortunately noticeable but does not bother the rest of the amazing experiences and the story it holds.

Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith - 95 / 100

Massive Entertainment created breathtaking environments across the galaxy, delivered a fast-paced combat system true to the scoundrel style, and crafted a story that rivals the modern movies. Star Wars Outlaws is, simply put, the Star Wars game of a generation.

Digital Chumps - Ben Sheene - 9 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws captures the thrilling unrest of the criminal underworld players rarely get to see in a Star Wars game. Shepherded by the charming Kay Vess, the game has many open-world hallmarks but carves out an identity by allowing players to shape the action.

GosuNoob - Srdjan Stanarevic - 9 / 10

From the graphical presentation, that is top notch, to almost completely bug free gameplay, Star Wars Outlaws is a game hard to find a fault with.

PSX Brasil - Bruno Henrique Vinhadel - Portuguese - 90 / 100

Outlaws is a fantastic adventure worthy of the Star Wars universe. Competent in several areas and shaking up the Ubisoft open world formula for its games, Kay Vess' adventure is fun and interesting from start to finish, filled with unique details of an incredible universe.

The Outerhaven Productions - Jordan Andow - 4.5 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws stands as a testament to Ubisoft Massive’s ability to blend familiar gameplay elements with fresh, innovative ideas. From the engaging blaster combat and seamless space battles to the dynamic narrative shaped by player choices, the game offers a rich and immersive experience that captures the essence of what makes Star Wars so captivating. While it doesn’t break new ground in most aspects, the way it combines tried-and-true mechanics with unique features like Nix and the Syndicate system makes it a standout action-adventure open world. In my opinion a must play game in the year 2024, especially for Star Wars fans.

Hobby Consolas - Álvaro Alonso - Spanish - 88 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws has action, adventure and a lot of heart. And surely that would have been enough, but far from being conservative, here we see a Ubisoft that dares to trust the player when designing its open worlds (or planets), thus perfecting a formula in which they are the masters. There is no doubt about it: this is the way.

Cerealkillerz - Nick Erlenhof - German - 8.6 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws departs somewhat from the typical Ubisoft formula and presents a pleasantly focused open world with a round playtime of 30-40 hours and a large focus on stealth. Not every planet is equally open and large, but each one looks incredibly beautiful and captures the Star Wars atmosphere that fans love so much. The AI and occasional bugs do take you out of the immersion and the story is not outstanding apart from the characters, but we still couldn't get enough of Kay, Nix, ND-5 and the many planets. Just beware of the addictive potential of the card game Sabacc.

Generación Xbox - Frank Montes - Spanish - 86 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is a fun game, in which we can rejoice in everything it has to offer in a way that we believe will please fans and that not so fans can enjoy. It's not without bugs, like any other game, but it is still a pleasant experience set in this rich universe.

Atomix - Aldo López - Spanish - 85 / 100

If you're a fan of Star Wars and action games, there's a good chance you'll enjoy it, whether you want to go just for the story or prefer to complete the alternate tasks. Massive Entertainment has created a very good product that can perhaps be improved if they decide to make a sequel in the future.

CGMagazine - Justin Wood - 8.5 / 10

Despite technical issues, Star Wars Outlaws was an incredibly engrossing adventure from its unique story perspective and engaging gameplay, it is the scoundrel story fans have always wanted.

COGconnected - James Paley - 85 / 100

Outlaws is an excellent Star Wars game. It’s also aggressively not for me. I felt tangible disappointment whenever a new mission required quietly infiltrating an enemy base. But I also recognize that the systems at work here are well-crafted ones. The enemy AI is fun to learn the limits of. You have multiple ways of quietly taking out guards. Most bases have alternate routes for infiltration. The grenade system is awful, but combat is otherwise tense and engaging. There’s all sorts of little activities like speeder racing and gambling. If you’re looking to live that scoundrel lifestyle in a galaxy far, far away then this game is made for you.

GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 85%

Star Wars Outlaws isn't a high-flyer both, as an open world action game and a Star Wars title. For that, the game is too usual in combat, stealth or world design. But Massive Entertainment still does a god job with a high variety in gameplay, an interesting, versatile story and with a friendly main hero and not at last one of the most loveable sidekicks in gaming history.

GameBlast - Alexandre Galvão - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is an experience that captures the essence of the Star Wars universe, delivering an immersive and visually stunning experience with the characteristics of a heist movie. Massive Entertainment has managed to create an open world that offers players the opportunity to explore the vast Outer Rim in an authentic and immersive way. Outlaws also brings with it some of the recurring problems in Ubisoft games, such as the repetition of missions and the lack of innovation in certain aspects of the gameplay. Still, for Star Wars fans and those who enjoy a good open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws is an adventure worth experiencing, offering memorable moments in a game that respects its source material and offers something worthy to the franchise.

GamePro - Dennis Michel - German - 85 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is entertaining popcorn action with a lot of charm, which only comes across as too superficial every now and then.

GamingTrend - David Burdette - 85 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws might play things a bit safe, but the solid foundation leads to a fantastic adventure. The gameplay is tremendous, with some of the most engaging stealth mechanics I've enjoyed in a game in a while. Add in some great characters, fun side missions, and a gorgeous open world, and Star Wars Outlaws is a great trip across the stars.

God is a Geek - Chris White - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws has a well-written styory and is filled with exciting missions, solid gameplay, and some beautiful worlds to explore.

MondoXbox - Alessandro Rindolli - Italian - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is the experience every Star Wars fan should have, a love letter to the saga, excelling in offering a rich and varied adventure, woven perfectly within a larger story away from the great conflicts between Sith and Jedi, Empire and Rebellion. It isn't a perfect work, with bugs and glitches that compromise even the AI of enemies, but never before has this Galaxy come to life in such a rich guise.

One More Game - Chris Garcia - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a surprisingly good time, and I have to say that I enjoyed the game more than I thought I would after playing it early in previews. The scoundrel's life is well realized, and playing Kay Vess through her escapades was a pleasure because of her charm and character. Massive Entertainment has delivered the goods, making Star Wars Outlaws the open-world Star Wars game you are looking for.

Oyungezer Online - Oguz Erdogan - Turkish - 8.5 / 10

A Star Wars fan will find many beautiful details in Outlaws that appeal to them. In particular, the crime gap between the 5th and 6th film is perfectly reflected in the gameplay. Those who like the classic Ubisoft formula will also be very pleased with the abundance of planets and atmosphere changes.

TechRaptor - Erren Van Duine - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is an ambitious first step into bringing the franchise to an open world. Its engaging story and characters open the door for more adventurers to come.

The Games Machine - Marco Bortoluzzi - Italian - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws might have a gameplay that is occasionally rough and five dozens of different upgrade materials, but it makes up for any flaw with its excellent characters, a main story that always pushes you to look for the next chapter, and an unabashed love for the setting.

TrueGaming - Arabic - 8.5 / 10

Without a doubt, Star Wars Outlaws is one of the best games of the year and I also consider it one of the best Star Wars games released so far, as it delivered an experience that exceeded my expectations.

UnGeek - Renzo Guevara - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a fresh new take on not only a Star Wars story but the Ubisoft open world formula as well. The galaxy's criminal underworld is brought to life with stunning visuals and highly engaging gameplay mechanics that had me lost in this world for hours on end.

Use a Potion - 8.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws offers an engrossing, action-packed adventure that’s only really let down by a few technical hitches. I loved uncovering Kay’s story, switching up between the rival criminal syndicates, facing off with foes in action-packed shootouts, and exploring each wonderful locale, whilst the game never seems to run out of ideas in its world design. I’d be lying if I said that the stealth didn’t get a little underwhelming later on in the game, but when everything else is so wonderfully executed, it’s easy to forgive.

It just needs a little bit of extra work right now to iron out some of the technical issues, and whilst I didn’t encounter anything game-breaking, I did need to re-load my save on a few occasions to fix a problem. Was it the end of the world? No, but it was the only thing stopping me from giving the game a 9 out of 10.

Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 8.5 / 10

Overall, Star Wars: Outlaws delivers pretty much exactly what it promised. Players have the chance to take on the role of a smuggler to blast, sneak and fast-talk their way through the Star Wars universe. It does an excellent job of capturing the tone and feel of the franchise, and it feels like a Star Wars game should. It has its flaws and imperfections, but if you're looking for the chance to zoom around blasting TIE Fighters and outwitting the Hutts, it's exactly what you'd want.

Xbox Achievements - Dan Webb - 85%

Star Wars Outlaws is a wonderful, albeit slightly rough around the edges, galactic space adventure that will appeal to both Star Wars and non-Star Wars fans alike. With a great story, a handful of really iconic locations and a whole host of variety running through its veins, Outlaws is a fantastic new world of adventure for Ubisoft Massive. Plus, it’s incredibly fun.

LevelUp - Pedro Pérez Cesari - Spanish - 8.3 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is an epic journey worth living. It's an adventure that not only captures all those elements that have made Star Wars one of the most beloved franchises in all of entertainment, but also feels like a new era for Ubisoft. After several content bloated releases and a tired formula, it delivers a journey that lasts as long as it needs to and replaces tedious mechanics with systems that reward you for doing what matters most: having fun.

Merlin'in Kazanı - Murat Oktay - Turkish - 82 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is undoubtedly one of the most impressive games Ubisoft has produced, at least on PC. In general terms, many elements that you would like to see in a Star Wars game are also found in Outlaws. The plot brings with it very exciting and well-planned moments, especially in the last episode. The finale of the story is also presented very successfully.

BaziCenter - Keyvan Jahanbani - Persian - 8 / 10

Exploring a different aspect of the Star Wars world, Ubisoft and Massive Studios did a decent job in taking a more open-world approach and proving that the Star Wars universe still has a massive potential for the future, and more importantly, Ubisoft can still publish good games.

Checkpoint Gaming - Tom Quirk - 8 / 10

I found myself very pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Star Wars Outlaws. I became quite invested in its grounded heist narrative, even if its supporting characters didn't really rise above one-note stereotypes. It was a blast exploring the Star Wars galaxy, whether it was shooting down TIE fighters in space or just chilling in a Sabacc den playing cards with Lando Calrissian. Ubisoft Massive has done an excellent job in crafting an open-world Star Wars adventure, and this is one heist that is worth signing up for.

Cinelinx - Jordan Maison - 4 / 5

With a big focus on stealth gameplay and cinematic visuals/set pieces to keep you invested, it’s been tough for me to put the controller down. While it has the familiar feel of other Ubisoft games, it’s hard to complain when things feel as refined as they are. As someone who normally struggled with open world titles and being daunted, Outlaws felt welcoming in all the right ways.

ComingSoon.net - Paul Tamburro - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws rewards exploration and investment in your playstyle, letting you explore the galaxy far, far away as you see fit. Some technical issues and problems with its progression system don’t hold back a great experience, that will hopefully be the start of many more open-world Star Wars games to come.

Daily Star - Tom Hutchison - 4 / 5

This is an excellent start by the Ubisoft bods and I suspect the inevitable follow-up will fare better once more varied gameplay is added into the mix.

Digital Spy - Ben Rayner - 4 / 5

Outlaws is a Star Wars story worth experiencing. There’s a fun story with some engrossing world-building and stealth exploration to be had if you give it a chance, and I really hope the team at Ubisoft Massive gets a chance at fleshing things out even more with a sequel.

Everyeye.it - Lorenzo Mango - Italian - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a production that pays homage to the reference material in the best possible way.

Evilgamerz - Daan Nijboer - Dutch - 8 / 10

As a Star Wars fan, judging Outlaws is quite a difficult task. Very objectively speaking, there is still plenty to criticize about this game. Technically and in terms of gameplay it is really not high quality. The combat in particular is a bit too basic for the year 2024. Explosions seem to come from 2010 and we have also seen better facial animations. Then it is very doubtful that a paid season pass has been added where more missions will be playable later. Of course, you don't have to purchase this, but content in a single-player game that is behind a paywall is never desirable. But, and a really big but, as a Star Wars fan it is simply a pleasure to finally travel around and discover the open world of Tatooine and the other plants. These planets have been designed with so much love that it is a pleasure to comb every meter. There is a bizarre amount to do outside the storyline, without it becoming boring. Kay as the main character won't reach Kratos or Ellie status, but is fun enough. Together with Nix and ND-5 there is enough interaction to enjoy following the various conversations. Don't expect a groundbreaking game from Star Wars Outlaws, but fans will enjoy it from start to finish. Outlaws is not finished to perfection and it all feels a bit clumsy, but that gives exactly the right Star Wars feeling of the original trilogy.

Game Revolution - Jason Faulkner - 8 / 10

Exploring the galaxy in Star Wars: Outlaws is a blast, and the open-world gameplay perfectly fits the franchise. Kay might not be the most exciting protagonist ever, and the main story suffers as a result. However, the environments are well-crafted, and the gameplay is entertaining enough to compensate for it. Massive managed to avoid many issues that Ubisoft titles are often criticized for, and Outlaws is a must-play for any Star Wars fan.

Gameblog - Geralt de Reeves - French - 8 / 10

For its first shot in the beloved galaxy far, far away, Ubisoft Massive makes a convincing show of Force, in an open world formula relatively well adapted. At its best, Star Wars Outlaws is a very good blend between action-adventure and stealth games, especially thanks to the adorable addition of Nix. It's also one of the most beautiful and immersive Star Wars games to date, that pays a lovely tribute to this monument of the pop-culture. The whole experience is although marred by a conventional story, with rather cliché characters, some frustrating bug mostly rare bugs, and the terrible AI that has plagued Ubisoft games for years. Nevertheless, this is definitely a good Star Wars Games, which could spark a new hope for the return of Ubisoft at its peak.

Gamefa - Mostafa Zahedi - Persian - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is an entertaining game from start to finish that delivers an amazing gunplay, beautiful world and ample content. That being said, technical issues are still present and side quests and side activity lack the depth and variety we would expect. Nonetheless, you're going to have a blast playing Star Wars Outlaws!

Gameliner - Rudy Wijnberg - Dutch - 4 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws offers a refreshing experience by letting you play as a scoundrel in a well-crafted galaxy far, far away, without relying on Jedi or familiar faces. Despite some technical issues and repetitive elements, the game delivers epic dogfights, meaningful choices, and an impressive world, making it a solid choice for Star Wars fans.

GamesFinest - Luca Pernecker - German - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws offers a gripping story and convincing characters in an impressively designed Star Wars world. The decision not to choose a Jedi as the main character brings a breath of fresh air to the game. However, a certain monotony becomes apparent after a while. Although the gameplay is very entertaining, there is a lack of innovation and challenges. For fans of the universe and anyone looking for a well-told single-player story, Star Wars Outlaws is still an adventure worth recommending, even if it does seem a little monotonous in some aspects.

Gaming Nexus - Eric Hauter - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a good time, once you come to terms with it's stealth gameplay. While the visuals feel rough around the edges, the story and writing are fun and the gameplay can be surprisingly engaging. Things do wear thin after doing the same stealth missions over and over again, but this is still a trip to the outer rim well worth taking.

Geeks & Com - Anthony Gravel - French - 8 / 10

I really enjoyed my adventure in Star Wars Outlaws, despite its lacklustre gameplay. For me, the game's strength lies above all in its narrative and the introduction of many original characters. I think that for Star Wars fans, it's also a great way of enriching our knowledge of certain little-known aspects of the universe. The fact that we can explore the different criminal factions at a key moment in history is super interesting. I hope we'll see more titles from the universe that try new recipes like this one. Until then, I'll be the first to jump into the DLC that's already planned.

Guardian - Keith Stuart - 4 / 5

A genuinely likable new lead and intense attention to the mythology of the Star Wars films made this a nostalgic thrill

Kakuchopurei - Alleef Ashaari - 80 / 100

Massive Entertainment did a great job of making players feel like scoundrels in the Star Wars universe. While Star Wars Outlaws won't be turning heads or wowing anyone with its gameplay mechanics, the painstaking amount of effort and detail into bringing the Star Wars underworld to life must be commended. It's a game any Star Wars fan should pick up, even if it doesn't have lightsabers or Jedi.

Metro GameCentral - GameCentral - 8 / 10

A beguiling mix of open world exploration, mild criminality, and Star Wars flavour that, while it has its flaws, is one of the most enjoyable space adventures of recent years.

Noisy Pixel - Colin Buchanan - 8 / 10

Star Wars: Outlaws introduces players to a vast open world where they can truly live in the Star Wars universe. Following the journey of Kay Vess the game excels in exploration, combat, and its unique reputation system. While the narrative has its shortcomings, especially in character development, Outlaws remains an engaging and expansive adventure for fans of the franchise.

Pixel Arts - Danial Dehghani - Persian - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws serve as a valuable blueprint for Ubisoft's future Star Wars titles. Its experimental approach, including both successes and missteps, offers valuable insights. Ubisoft can refine its future games by identifying what works and what doesn't, ensuring they balance fan expectations and innovative storytelling. If you're a Star Wars enthusiast seeking an action-packed adventure, Outlaws is a compelling choice

PlayStation LifeStyle - Tyler Treese - 8 / 10

While the stealth gameplay can sometimes become repetitive, Star Wars Outlaws is largely a blast. The attention to detail is top-notch, with each planet being a lot of fun to explore and side missions providing some of the best moments.

PlayStation Universe - David Carcasole - 8 / 10

Star Wars: Outlaws registers as a great game to me because I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I can't help but love all the things I got to do here that I've never done in a Star Wars game before. However that doesn't change the fact that in most areas the game is off the mark in big and small ways, in one direction or another. These misses could understandably be the thing that puts many off from Outlaws, but the Star Wars-of it all shines bright enough to blur them out.

Pure Dead Gaming - Kirkland Gray - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a remarkable romp through wretched hives of scum and villainy that will surely bring joy to any Star Wars fan. A smidgin of game design pitfalls notably hold the game back, but swashbuckling adventures, numerous enjoyable diversions, and the realization of beloved Star Wars worlds and characters make Star Wars Outlaws an undeniably good time.

SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 8 / 10

It's a big, fun game with an interesting story and a likeable protagonist that brings a new perspective to the Star Wars universe. The story of the Rebels' fight against the Empire takes on new shape through her eyes. And just as she brings a new perspective to the story, she brings a new gameplay to the universe. One based on intelligent and quiet progression through well-designed environments. You can enjoy all of this here, except that the game would have benefited from another 2 months or so of fine-tuning.

Screen Rant - Glenn Bunn - 4 / 5

While Star Wars Outlaws does have its pacing issues and there are moments where it feels restrictive, for the most part, it is still an enjoyable open-world experience to dive into. It's definitely one of the more in-depth insights into and excellent explorations of the scoundrel side. How Kay Vess' story plays into the wider franchise is yet to be seen, but with some major revelations in the final part of the game, there are bound to be some exciting consequences going forward from this excellent first adventure.

Seasoned Gaming - Alex Segovia - 8 / 10

While far from flawless, Outlaws proves that the ultimate fulfillment of the Star Wars game we’ve dreamed of is within our grasp.

Shacknews - Bill Lavoy - 8 / 10

Outlaws is at its best when it’s telling you a story. I was immediately invested in Kay and Nix and loved going on this journey with them. I didn’t skip a single cinematic or hurry through dialogue and, as a casual Star Wars fan, I would say that’s a big win for the folks at Massive Entertainment. There were certainly some places where the gameplay felt repetitive, but climbing, grappling, and taking out my foes in chaotic battles with my Blaster always felt satisfying. Working with Nix to solve puzzles or stealth through areas was a treat. Now that I’ve beaten the story, I’m not sure I’ll spend much time in the open world, but Outlaws did such a good job that I’m thinking of digging into some of the movies and television shows I’ve been passing on. That’s about as big a compliment as I can give the story.

Skewed & Reviewed - Gareth von Kallenbach - 4 / 5

Star Wars: Outlaws has surpassed my expectations and has provided me with hours of great Star Wars content and new characters to enjoy.

Slant Magazine - Ryan Aston - 4 / 5

There are kinks in the game’s armor, like skittish enemy AI and a bunch of absolutely gratuitous cameos (you’ve been warned Solo haters). For all of its efforts to stretch out to forge its own identity, Outlaws can’t resist occasionally returning to the nostalgia well. But such grievances are likely to run off you like water off a duck’s back. In the end, everything here, down to the scaleable difficulty, clever upgrade system that bypasses usual RPG-levelling mechanics where skills and upgrades are tied into missions, and the surprisingly fun minigames, is so well executed that you’ll always feel like your wildest galactic scoundrel fantasy has been realized.

Stevivor - Matt Gosper - 8 / 10

The story has all the heel-turns, reveals and double-crosses you could hope for from a heist story, and even a few surprise twists you won’t see coming. Seeing the Star Wars world from a more boots-on-the-ground perspective also casts it in a very different light – an AT-ST is a much more intimidating thing to see when you don’t have access to midichlorians.

TheSixthAxis - Gareth Chadwick - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is an open world scoundrel-'em-up that clearly builds on Ubisoft's familiar format, but that's not a bad thing. The rep system in particular is interesting, as the constant fluctuations belie any kind of loyalty you might show otherwise, but most importantly, this game lets you just be in the enduring Star Wars Universe. It's not perfect, but stealing for crime syndicates, fighting the Empire, speeding across alien landscapes, and so much more is a dream come true.

Tom's Guide - Ryan Epps - 4 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws delivers a true Star Wars experience, featuring four total worlds teeming with expansive maps and various side quests for hours of unending fun. Space-based combat and general gunplay are solid with rare moments of stealth that can frustrate at times. Several technical issues and crashes can also hurt immersion.

Try Hard Guides - Erik Hodges - 8 / 10

Though I have criticisms about the game’s writing and mechanics, Star Wars Outlaws does an incredible job of immersing you in the Star Wars universe and will keep you at least somewhat invested in its storytelling. If you’re a fan of the Star Wars formula and want an open-world game set in the Outer Rim, Star Wars Outlaws is the game for you.

Windows Central - Rebecca Spear - 4 / 5

A fun game for any Star Wars fan.

XGN.nl - Ralph Beentjes - Dutch - 8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a delightful adventure with a charismatic new hero. The stealth gameplay is fun, but the missions do get repetitive after a while. Thankfully the game is a looker, with some beautiful planets to explore as a side-adventure.

XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 8 / 10

STAR WARS Outlaws is the dream 3rd-person open world title so many of us wanted.  It’s big, and fun, and while it has some flaws I have greatly enjoyed my time with it.  A massive progression blocking soft-lock is a bit of a bummer and instead of this being a final score it’s going to be a review-in-progress one as I wait to see the rest of the title once it’s fixed.

ani-game.com - Joel Gralton - 8 / 10

Star Wars: Outlaws delivers on the goal of giving the player the opportunity to live the life of a scoundrel in the Star Wars universe and shows that the story doesn’t need to have Jedis at the forefront to tell an interesting tale. It’s full of colourful and interesting characters, races and locales and the worlds are pact with things to stumble across to keep to busy for many hours.

Atarita - Eren Eroğlu - Turkish - 79 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is a game that wonderfully captures the essence of the iconic universe, but it also falls short in many aspects.

Chicas Gamers - Estela Villa - Spanish - 7.8 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is not the definitive game in the saga, it is a different title that adds another touch to what we are used to within this universe. An open world adventure that can take us between 8-25 hours to finish its main mission and that despite its lights and shadows, will entertain us due to the variety of options it offers us.

INVEN - Soojin Kim - Korean - 7.8 / 10

Unfortunately, 'Star Wars Outlaws'doesn't fully break away from the familiar formula of a Ubisoft-style open world. While the repetitive gameplay and excessive stealth elements are disappointing, the game succeeds in delivering the joy of the Star Wars IP through an accessible story that anyone can enjoy.

But Why Tho? - Kate Sanchez - 7.5 / 10

Even with the hiccups, Star Wars: Outlaws is a fantastic story that effectively uses the heist genre and never keeps its characters in focus. That said, the side quests are vital to learning more about the world and the characters we have met.

Gaming Age - Matthew Pollesel - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a perfect example of a good game that could’ve been a great one if only its developers had played to its strengths.

Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws offers a refreshing open-world experience with diverse planets and engaging missions. Despite some technical issues and a lacklustre protagonist, the game’s authenticity and the immersive world make it a worthwhile experience for Star Wars fans and newcomers.

IGN Italy - Francesco Destri - Italian - 7.5 / 10

It's not the perfect action-adventure that hopeful fans were expecting, but Star Wars Outlaws remains an enjoyable open world experience in both narrative and gameplay.

NextGen Player - Paul Hunter - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws presents an exciting journey through the beloved Star Wars universe. The game features a captivating story centred around Kay Vess, a charming outlaw and has you explore beautifully designed planets, each filled with unique environments, friendly characters and criminal factions.

Nexus Hub - Ryan Pretorius - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws will appeal to die-hard fans looking for a new world-hopping adventure loaded with charm and all-too-familiar gameplay, but it can't escape bothersome performance issues and a weak protagonist.

Spaziogames - Domenico Musicò - Italian - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws should have been a smaller game, without the open world requirement at all costs. It falls into the usual mistakes of previous Ubisoft games, while it gives its best in the main missions, which are well structured and able to meet the favor of fans of the saga.

Tom's Hardware Italia - Giulia Serena - Italian - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars: Outlaws is not the open-world Star Wars dream we had hoped for, but we can't deny that Kay Vess' adventure was still enjoyable. Unfortunately, Ubisoft didn't stray far from its typical open-world formula and fell short with the protagonist, who lacks the effective characterization needed to make players empathize with her or become truly invested in her story.

Twisted Voxel - Salal Awan - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws offers a fresh take on the franchise. While it has great visuals and solid gameplay, it relies on familiar open-world tropes, which may not appeal to everyone. The protagonist, Kay Vess, and her companion, Nix, offer enjoyable interactions, but some missions and stealth elements can feel repetitive.

Washington Post - Gene Park - 75 / 100

A strong reminder why the Ubisoft formula became so influential, so reliable and so popular.

ZdobywcyGier.eu - Paweł Bortkiewicz - Polish - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a pretty good game with no shortage of flaws. At first glance it seems very impressive, but after a long time many systems begin to tire the player. The plot is an element that will probably divide fans, as there is a lack of interesting characters here, but the story idea itself is quite good. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of Star Wars then most likely you will still want to get acquainted with another story from this universe.

Zoomg - Ali Goodarzi - Persian - 7.5 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a compact, charming, and highly entertaining open-world video game. Despite some issues, I recommend it to fans of story-driven open-world games. Ubisoft Massive’s new game breaks away from the routine patterns of Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry and draws inspiration from other well-tested games in this genre. Overall, Star Wars Outlaws is a game that both Star Wars fans and Open World game enthusiasts will enjoy playing.

PC Gamer - Morgan Park - 73 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is Ubisoft's most ambitious game in years, but it plays the basics way too safe.

3DNews - Алексей Лихачев - Russian - 7 / 10

Not a typical game for the Star Wars franchise or Ubisoft. There are some interesting ideas in it, but not all of them were implemented well. Still, for the most part, the game turned out to be quite fun, and Ubisoft will not be embarrassed by it. Even though some of us had hoped for more.

Capsule Computers - Travis Bruno - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws may have all of the style and feel of Star Wars but its lackluster combat and stealth mechanics hold it back despite solid exploration and Nix’s cute and useful assistance.

Enternity.gr - Konstantinos Kalkanis - Greek - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is certainly not the next big production that will be forever etched in fans' memories, but it's not a bad title by any means.

Game Rant - Pam K. Ferdinand - 3.5 / 5

Massive Entertainment's Star Wars Outlaws open world scoundrel adventure shows a lot of promise, but it's bogged down by a few too many issues.

Gamer Escape - Justin Mercer - 7 / 10

There’s an awful lot of content and mechanical ambition in Outlaws with its reputation system, and it’s fun enough to experience most of it, but it still isn’t able to prevent things from blending together once you’ve spent an extended amount of time with Kay and her crew.

Gamersky - 心灵奇兵 - Chinese - 7 / 10

Star Wars: Outlaws is so monotonous that it fails to leave any lasting impression. In 2024, a merely mediocre game is unlikely to satisfy players, especially one with as many flaws as this. Despite focusing on stealth gameplay, the issues with the levels, combat, and mechanics make it hard to truly enjoy the experience. Ironically, the only saving grace is the strong and well-established Star Wars setting, which serves as the game's last shred of dignity.

GamesRadar+ - Josh West - 3.5 / 5

"You really do feel a part of a wider world, rather than a function of it"

IGN - Tristan Ogilvie - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but it’s hindered by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch.

IGN Spain - Mario Seijas - Spanish - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws throws itself at you with abland stealth system and a significant lack of animations, but if you can see past all that, you'll find a rich universe filled with things to do. It captures the essence of Star Wars, I just wish it had translated a little better to the format.

Prima Games - Ali Hashmi - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws manages to free itself from the shackles of conventional open-world design trappings, but it doesn't have enough polish in its moment-to-moment gameplay to really stand out. Kay Vess and Nix are a fun duo to follow, but the overall story takes a long while to get going and provide any meaningful character growth. The combat isn't engaging, and the stealth mechanics are far too basic. Its outstanding visuals, fun exploration, and authentic world design do a lot of heavy lifting, and there is plenty of room for improvement in a potential sequel.

Rectify Gaming - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws is visually stunning, but beneath its beauty, there are some rough edges. Despite these flaws, I remain optimistic that Star Wars Outlaws will improve significantly with further updates and community feedback. There’s a lot of potential for growth, especially with possible DLCs and patches.

Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws could have been THE Star War game. It provided a rich world and lore that kept me intrigued for hours, but the gameplay systems are not only marred by technical problems but it even lacked the execution despite the brilliant ideas it has

TheGamer - Jade King - 3.5 / 5

A lacklustre story, a bizarre lack of polish for a production of this scale, and a main character that isn’t the step forward she should have been all hold the game back from excellence.

WayTooManyGames - Leonardo Faria - 7 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws just didn’t have a lot of cool elements to make it stand out from the rest of the crowd. There isn’t a lot in it that’s actually bad, broken, or unpolished, but rarely did it ever excite me. It’s your run-of-the-mill open world AAA game, one you’ve played a million times before from Ubisoft and other studios, with all the generic clichés you’d expect from the most default of titles in the genre. It just so happens to be drenched in a Star Wars coat of paint.

WellPlayed - Adam Ryan - 7 / 10

Mechanically speaking, Star Wars Outlaws isn't going to throw you into hyperspace, but, despite its lack of innovation, there is still plenty of fun to be had within its beautifully crafted worlds.

AltChar - Semir Omerovic - 67 / 100

On paper, Star Wars Outlaws has all the necessary elements to be a great open-world action-adventure but sadly, these elements never come together in a way that would create an engaging gameplay experience.

Multiplayer First - James Lara - 6.5 / 10

Ultimately, Star Wars Outlaws’ biggest strength is that it has the Star Wars license, but in terms of gameplay? It feels by-the-numbers for the most part. This is one outlaw that might want to spend some time in the pokey to reflect on their missteps.

Post Arcade (National Post) - Chad Sapieha - 6.5 / 10

Ubisoft's new sandbox game clearly gets Star Wars, but it somehow forgets to give us a charming scoundrel to cheer for

CBR - Noelle Warner - 6 / 10

This title won’t be redefining the genre, and it plays like many of the other games in the Ubisoft catalog that most players are familiar with by now. Assuming players go in with reasonable expectations, they’ll have a good time with it if they’re already a fan of the genre.

Digital Trends - Tomas Franzese - 3 / 5

I could see a great Star Wars game in the stellar world design and emergent moments that truly put me in the shoes of a smuggler. Anytime Star Wars Outlaws allowed me to live that fantasy, I was happy to be in its orbit. But so often, it left me hanging in the airlock.

Eurogamer.pt - Bruno Galvão - Portuguese - 3 / 5

A mix of acclaimed AAA action-adventure third-person shooters that could compensate for its lack of originality with a good story and exciting scenes, but fails to do so. A Star Wars action-adventure should leave you fascinated and entertained, not indifferent.

GGRecon - Harry Boulton - 3 / 5

It's a game that I'm sure will enthral pre-existing Star Wars fans as its world and characters feel authentic, but beyond that, it offers not much more than a playable albeit sometimes frustrating experience.

GameSpot - Jordan Ramée - 6 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws shines in a few moments but fizzles out in too many others.

GamingBolt - Shubhankar Parijat - 6 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws boasts strong open world design and the swashbuckling and improvisational vibe of a classic Star Wars scoundrel story, but from technical rough edges to some dated design decisions to clunky movement, it's got more than a few significant issues that weigh it down.

Niche Gamer - Matt Kowalski - 6 / 10

Overall, Star Wars Outlaws is an adequate game that gives you a decent Star Wars experience but isn’t anything memorable. Yes there are different ways to enjoy the game but the soft locks, forced stealth, and checkpoint system can make you not want to continue playing. The game does feature some fun gameplay elements such as Sabacc and Nix interactions but it doesn’t drive the overall experience.

PCMag - Jordan Minor - 3 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws admirably attempts to simulate the sly space scoundrel life, but it quickly gets lost in a galaxy of frustratingly outdated gameplay and uninspired open-world bloat.

Press Start - James Wood - 6 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws marks an impressive step forward for depictions of the galaxy in video games but fails to provide players with a compelling reason to explore it.

Push Square - Liam Croft - 6 / 10

Star Wars Outlaws gets by with a refreshed approach to the Ubisoft open world blueprints, fun traversal, and the themes and setting of a galaxy nobody could hope to replicate - but only just. So many of its core pillars, from the lacklustre reputation system to the basic combat and stealth mechanics, feel incredibly surface-level. There's little depth to invest in, leaving the game a fun enough investment in the moment that'll prove forgettable further down the line. It's a perfectly fine video game, which feels like an anticlimax given the IP it's attached to.

Thumb Culture - 3 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws represents a significant advancement in open-world design for Ubisoft. Despite a flawed middle section, the game excels in its opening and closing hours, showcasing a promising shift towards deeper immersion. The game’s structural innovation positions it as a bridge between Ubisoft’s traditional formula and a more immersive experience. However, technical issues such as frequent crashes, glitches, and outdated AI detract from the otherwise engaging Star Wars experience. These issues prevent the game from fully realizing its potential in my opinion.

VGC - Jordan Middler - 3 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws is a pulpy, Uncharted-style adventure that doesn't quite fulfil its potential. Kay and Nix lead a great cast through a well-paced, punchy story, but the game's Reputation system, and syndacite storyline in general feels undercooked.

Wolf's Gaming Blog - Baden Ronie - 3 / 5

Like a Stormtrooper it often misses its mark, but sometimes it surprises and nails the shot. The last third of the game is vastly superior and shows some great promise, while the smart skill system and many small improvements on Ubisoft’s open-world template all give me hope that the French publisher is willing to move away from its bloated, rote designs.

Play Watch Read - Flip Dynko - Dutch - 5.5 / 10

Of course, a fortune seeker like Kay Vess is supposed to have some rough edges, but that doesn't have to apply to this game. It's nice that the galaxy far, far away finally has an open world title, for sure. However, on a technical level, there is still a lot to be gained. 'Star Wars Outlaws' is definitely inviting, but not entirely satisfying.

Gamer Guides - Jason Rodriguez - 50 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws is one of the most disappointing titles I’ve played in recent years. From features that aren’t fully fleshed out to boring missions and mechanics that make absolutely no sense, it’s a smorgasbord of startling mistakes and questionable design decisions that will leave anyone, Star Wars fan or not, reeling. Well, at least there’s always Jedi: Survivor for open-world aficionados.

Hardcore Gamer - Kyle LeClair - 2.5 / 5

The idea of a Star Wars game focusing entirely on the world of outlaws in its seedier parts of the universe is a great one, but it deserved a different kind of game than Star Wars Outlaws, instead of being suited for something more like Shadows of Doubt, Disco Elysium or even L.A. Noire. Even a straight, linear action game would be better. Instead, we get a boring, open-world monstrosity with uninspired gameplay, way too many useless features and a constant deluge of uninteresting side content. Kay and company deserve way better and so do the players. Save your credits and wait for something like a solo Kessel Sabacc game instead.

NoobFeed - Ahnaf Tajwar - 50 / 100

Star Wars Outlaws does have its strengths, though—the worlds in this game can sing. You can feel like there is life that is living and breathing in the world—the snowfall of Kijimi, the rain of Akiva; there are strong environments at times that made me feel like I was in the Star Wars universe. It's a game that made big promises, but unfortunately, it is one of the many AAA games that failed to deliver on them. The restrictive gameplay, subpar story, and uncanny valley facial animations make the game hard to recommend at full price.

Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell - 2 / 5

Massive bravely peels away the many layers of Ubisoft open world-isms in Star Wars Outlaws. It's a fatal error.

GamesCreed - Jennifer Rahman - 2 / 5

Star Wars Outlaws strives to offer an engaging space adventure but stumbles with clunky stealth mechanics, forgettable characters, and uninspired mission design. While the game excels in capturing the visual and auditory essence of the Star Wars universe, its many flaws make it a frustrating experience rather than the thrilling journey it promises.

TheReviewGeek - Greg Wheeler - 4 / 10

Ubisoft have marketed Star Wars: Outlaws as a AAAA experience. And I whole heartedly agree. It absolutely is… if AAAA stands for Absolutely Atrocious And Abysmal.

Too Much Gaming - Carlos Hernandez - 2 / 5

I've traversed vibrant planets and chased after the promise of the ultimate big score. But as the novelty wore off, a harsh truth emerged: beneath its polished surface, Star Wars Outlaws is a missed opportunity, bogged down by repetitive gameplay and a narrative that struggles to find its footing. It’s a game that tantalizes with potential but ultimately leaves much to be desired.

We Got This Covered - David James - 2 / 5

This isn't a bad game, just one that does the bare minimum at all times. There's no depth, complexity or novelty here, and no sense of creative or artistic direction. This is a product, not a labor of love.

ACG - Jeremy Penter - Wait for Sale

"Some moments of fun marred by technical issues and some gameplay decisions that hold it back."

Console Creatures - Patrick Tremblay - Recommended

Star Wars Outlaws delivers one of Ubisoft's best games in years.

Destructoid - Steven Mills - Unscored

If you enjoy the Ubisoft structure of games but have been overwhelmed by them lately, thankfully Outlaws avoids most of the pitfalls. I feel safe in recommending Star Wars Outlaws to anyone who is a Star Wars fan who is looking for a solid story in the beloved universe, with stealth-focused gameplay that allows you to truly live the life of a scoundrel on the Outer Rim.

Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - Recommended

Star Wars Outlaws offers one of the best digital realizations of the Star Wars galaxy. It's immersive, beautiful, and fun to play. It only lacks a more focused, exciting, and well-presented story, considering all the good elements it has to offer.

Entertainium - Eduardo Rebouças - Liked

Star Wars Outlaws is a serviceable open-world game that makes great use of the license, but fails to provide much of a reason for non-believers to jump in.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Nic Reuben - Unscored

It's hard to get enthusiastic about Outlaws' weak stealth and combat, film-set worlds, and half-hearted nods at a more conceptually experimental game. Still, it's a perfectly ok bit of Star Wars entertainment with some great, authentic moments.

SIFTER - Gianni Di Giovanni - Loved

STAR WARS OUTLAWS had me giddy in points. I was walking down the dusty streets of Mos Eisley, past the hanger where the Millenium Falcon would have been parked up. Walking into the cantina and spotting the blaster mark on the wall which confirmed who shot first. Lots of little details make this visit to the galaxy far far away one of the most memorable of the last couple of years, but these cities felt real in a way I've never experience before, teeming and lived in, this open world game from Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment feels expansive and intimate at the same time.

While Outlaws has some flaws, it is a fun and accurate depiction of the Star Wars universe. Kay Vess is a great addition to the world, and I enjoyed watching her grow throughout her many adventures. As a casual fan of Star Wars, I think that this is a great entry for those that are only familiar with Jedis and light saber combat. I believe that many issues that gamers may run into can be addressed by an update but I wouldn’t let small kinks in the armor scare you away from this experience. Like many Ubisoft titles, there will be some significant story updates coming in the future so this game will be supported for a while. Jump in and give Star Wars Outlaws a try

Vamers - Edward Swardt - Essential

Whether players are die-hard fans of the franchise or newcomers looking for an entry point, Star Wars Outlaws truly is something special. It rewards curiosity, encourages exploration, and makes players feel like a true part of the galaxy far, far away. Navigating Kay Vess’s journey does not just feel like playing a game; it allows players to feel like they are actively living in a Star Wars story, one choice at a time. In that sense, Star Wars Outlaws does not just meet expectations; it joins the ranks of Jedi: Survivor and Knights of the Old Republic II as it sets a new standard for what an open-world Star Wars game can and should be.

Star Wars Outlaws presents the Star Wars universe in a way that stories about heroic rebels or lightsaber-swinging Jedi often can’t.

Fans and critics heading into this game have wondered if it would feel “checklist-y” in the way that most Ubisoft open-world games do. I’ll grant that the world map isn’t a sea of icons to be checked off in the way a Far Cry game’s might be, but when the time came to leave Toshara and start in on the game’s “main quest,” my journal was still full to the brim of… well, stuff to check off on a list. Treasure spots, complete with little treasure chest icons to indicate if you’ve opened them all. Lists of intel to be gathered and locations to be scouted, and so on, and so on. I will give the game credit for not aggressively shoving them in my face, but I have my doubts that this is an effective long-term strategy for keeping good old Open-World Fatigue at bay.

It’s worth noting that this not-quite-a-review is based on the game’s opening hours. Some of these rougher spots might be smoothed out with more time or progress, but the flaws of the open-world design are not necessarily due to Massive’s team doing anything wrong; they’re more just inevitable consequences of the form. It’s hard not to see Outlaws, at least a little bit, as The Elder Scrolls: Tatooine Edition in some ways: Here’s a big, cohesive space with a bunch of big story threads and about 10 hojillion small ones. All that was really needed was a stormtrooper complaining about taking a blaster bolt to the knee. (Blessedly that hasn’t happened, because if it had, this review would have a lot more F-bombs in it, I assure you.)

It’s good that Outlaws sticks the landing on the Star Wars-iness of its world and its characters, for that reason. It truly feels like the game’s only real unique selling proposition in a market full of other games doing similar stuff (and live service games that not only do similar stuff, but want you to keep coming back to do it every day). As far as these things go, “it’s a bit like a playable Solo” could be a lot worse. Whether or not the game will fully deliver on its promise, and if Kay Vess becomes her own distinct star in the SW firmament, however, is still up in the air.

  • Commissar SFLUFAN changed the title to Star Wars Outlaws (PC/Xbox Series/PS5 | 30 August 2024) - update (08/26): reviews from OpenCritic posted

The reviews scores and accompanying narratives pretty much line up with what was written in the various previews leading to release - there are no big surprises here at all.

It's "Far Cry: The Star Wars Edition", and if that's what you want, then that's what you're gonna get!
