SaysWho?
NBC shared this 1981 interview with Bernie Sanders by Phil Donahue. It started with a question that people were asking, "My goodness, how could [electing a socialist] happen in good old conservative Vermont. How do you respond?" One of the most fascinating things for me is seeing how states change and how their voting patterns change. New Jersey and Vermont going for Bill Clinton was huge in 1992. Vermont voted Republican over FDR four times despite his expansive use of government for programs such as Social Security. While it was not the same conservatism as something like the Deep South, it's still interesting to read about.

SaysWho?
'A billionaire, right?': Warren laughs off Howard Schultz's criticism of her plan to break up big tech Quote You mean we could ask these multi-billion dollar companies nicely if they would not eat up the competition and just behave better in the marketplace. Really? We've had laws around against antitrust activity and predatory pricing for over a hundred years because we understand that the way markets work are when there's real competition in that market. Look at Facebook for example. You know I don't know about you but there are a lot of people who said, "I don't like how Facebook handles privacy, right? They're sucking up all my information and my kid's information." So along comes WhatsApp. And WhatsApp says, "Tell you what we're going to offer what we think is a better product and we're going to give you a lot better privacy." Now, Facebook had two choices at that point. Facebook could have said, "Dang maybe what we better do is make our company better, compete more aggressively, see what people want on privacy. Or we could use the fact that we are a multi-bazillion dollar corporation and just stomp out the competition." They bought the competition and now they're sucking the data out of the competition.https://www.cbsnews.com/news/full-interview-sen-elizabeth-warren-on-face-the-nation-march-10-2019/ Quote Warren said century-old antitrust law provides the government with the ability to break up the big tech companies, reversing deals like Amazon's purchase of Whole Foods or Facebook's acquisition of Instagram. "You know, I think of it this way: I like markets. I think markets produce a lot of good," Warren said. "But markets have to have rules, and so when everybody starts out, think of it like a plowed field. You know, everybody starts out, they plant their seeds, they make it go. That's great as long as everybody's competing. But when one gets so big that it means nobody else gets a chance to compete — including no consumer gets any more choice — then we got a problem. And that's what antitrust laws are for."

Separate the front end (facebook.com) from the back end databases and allow networking and communication between different front ends. Provide a basic timeline feature and other similar feeds to third party verified mini-books. FB licenses database access based on db hits/data sent/active users. Few other similar things like authentication and I can see this working. Also, spin off IG and spin off messenger and whatsapp. Something like the gdpr should be implemented as well. SaysWho?
Buttigieg doesn't understand how Pence can support this "porn star presidency" Quote "I mean, I don't know. It's really strange," Buttigieg said during a CNN town hall on Sunday night at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas. "Because I used to at least believe that he believed in our — I've disagreed with him ferociously on these things — but I thought, well, at least he believes in our institutions, and he's not personally corrupt. But then, how could he get on board with this presidency? How could somebody who — you know, his interpretation of scripture is pretty different from mine to begin with." "OK, my understanding of scripture is that it is about protecting the stranger and the prisoner and the poor person and that idea of welcome," he continued. "That's what I get in the gospel when I'm in church."
SaysWho?
40% of Iowa Republicans want Trump to have a challenger in the caucuses Quote But those positive signs are tempered by some registered Republicans' hope for a challenger to the President. Overall, Republicans are about evenly divided on the question, with 40% saying they hope the President faces a challenger from the party in the caucuses, and 41% saying they hope he does not face one. Another 19% are unsure. Those who hope for a challenger to the President are generally positive about Trump, but they are less positive than their fellow registered Republicans about the President's performance in office (63% say they approve vs. 97% among those who say they hope Trump is not challenged) and in their impressions of him generally (66% view him favorably vs. 95% who hope he's not challenged). CitizenVectron
The only reason I would want Biden to run is to see him debate both Trump and Pence. Yes that's right, he would take part in both debates so he could call their ideas "a bunch of malarkey." Maybe you guys should change the system so you have a policy President and a PR President. Then guys like Biden and Trump can be the PR guy and just run around doing rallies while someone else governs.
