Honestly, just opening up Medicare/Medicaid so anyone can enroll (then change payroll/capital gain taxes across the board to pay for it) seems like one of the best options forward. Would be a truly public option, and eventually everyone would make it in, or their private insurance would cover them if that method is better for them (they'd still have to pay the taxes though)

I honestly didn't think ideas like this were acceptable here.

It's a good first step. Eventually, to keep costs down, a lot of insurance will have to go away (keeping hospital administration costs lower by removing bureaucracy) and the enormous leverage of Medicare must be used to keep costs in check. The ultimate goal is M4A, but there will be a transition, and this will smooth the transition.

Given that every candidate is probably going to push M4A in some form, I would like to see at least ONE have candidate have somewhat of a coherent disability policy. There's a lot of cripples who are nervous about M4A since the Sanders bill completely ignores stuff currently covered by Medicaid waivers like personal care (especially in "good" States like NY and CA).

It's the US Congress who will be making any laws regarding M4A, so expect a total shitshow riddled with tonnes of support for special interests and very few items for sick people.
