Joe
I'm pretty sure it's $1,400 more. Seemed like a pretty fair assumption to make.

Joe
I would love to be wrong though! Just reading through Fright's links and it is pretty vague. I still think it's going to be $1,400, though.
b_m_b_m_b_m
I read the previous bill that passed the house strikes "$600" for "$2000" in the statue so $1400 more

SaysWho?
It feels weird to campaign on $2000 checks and then give 1400 ijs. If he said 2000 total stimulus then that make sense but he tweeted out $2000 checks after people already received $600 ones.

To be safe they should give the $1400 and also another $2000 so they can't be called liars 1

Spork3245
Biden also wants the UE stimulus to be increased back to $600 from the current $300. Possibly adding more weeks to the current 11-week extension as well?
Joe
No one gives Dems any credit for the 600 extra a week benefit. That shit was HUGE.

stepee
I always took it as $1,400 additional, not another full $2,000. It just seemed that is what they meant, it didn’t even register to me it would be $2,000. But like Joe, I’d love to be wrong!

Ghost_MH
Yeah, it was always swapping the previous $600 for $2000, not a new $2000 stimulus bill. I too would love to be wrong.

Gavin King
Agreed, Joe's tweet is saying don't give $600, give $2,000. I haven't seen anyone saying $2,600. People were pushing for $2,000, due to Republicans and Trump they only got through $600. Now with Democrats in charge soon, hopefully they'll be able to get through the remaining $1,400 they originally wanted, but we'll see what they're able to get through. The important thing though is not what they meant, but what people will accept. And I think what Dems need to do is not let themselves be slow walked on stimulus. There are still some people who haven't even gotten their 600, so if you can get 1,400 out in early February than it's easier to swallow for people that's the 2,000. If Dems let themselves be dragged into March or even later, then nobody is going to get that check and say, "oh, here's the rest of the 2,000 I got three months ago". b_m_b_m_b_m
I promise you the American people will completely understand that $1400 is the difference between $2000 promised and the $600 we* already got. Americans are smart they'll figure this out. *Still don't have mine dammit

Fizzzzle
I don't have mine either, turns out someone forgot to file his taxes in 2020. whoops. Quarantine was like being in a time warp, kinda forgot about the taxes thing. Apparently I can get the stimulus check when I file my taxes for 2020. Reputator
Still waiting on my $600 as well. The IRS posted an update on their website on the 11th saying they'll reissue checks for people who closed their bank accounts before it was issued. Apparently that's a widespread problem. But it will take weeks for that to arrive. Of course no one would have had that problem if the IRS simply offered a way to change/update your direct deposit information, but of course they didn't. Hopefully they add that feature before the next stimulus round or we'll all be in the same shit again. Anyway, I always understood the $2,000 to be an alternative to the $600 plan, and to pass $2,000 later would just give you the rest of the amount, not a full additional $2k. But I guess some of you guys were somehow confused.

TwinIon
The house already passed the bill to increase checks to $2000. I don't think it's always been well worded, but I'm confident that the promise has always been to increase this round of stimulus to $2000, never to send out $2000 on top of the recently passed $600.
