Not all insurance is good insurance, and even good insurance can put you through a nightmare of bureaucracy and still nearly bankrupt you and your family during a terrible time in your life.

This story makes me so fucking angry.

It's so fucking weird how people can have real concerns about how the things Bernie says might negatively impact his chances at getting elected is met with nonsense like "LOL Obama kinda said the same thing let's CANCEL HIM" as if that were anything like the problem anyone is talking about.  Dismissing concerns is not the same thing as addressing them; describing how you personally stopped worrying about a real problem doesn't answer the question of how we deal with it. Getting a regurgitation of policy positions instead of anything that approaches thoughtfulness is nothing more than pathetic fanaticism.

That's probably my favorite part of all this. Some people seem to think Cubans are the overwhelming majority here.

This tweet ironically is praising Batista, then.

They represent a large enough bloc to affect the vote and they're influential enough for down ballot candidates to run away from the front runner -- not usually a path that leads to victory.

From what I read there is, shocker here, a generational divide between older Cubans and younger ones with regard to Cuba policy.

True, but the skew is still Republican-leaning among younger Cubans.

Bottom-line to the Democrats: forget the goddamned Cubans and concentrate on the other Florida Latins and African-Americans/Afro-Caribbeans.

Seriously. Cubans already think the world revolves around them. They do not need any help in that department.

That's what Gillum did and he... lost.  It'd be nice to forget the Cubans but maybe let's not bet the farm on it.

Can we just forget Florida and go for a state where Democrats win statewide? Something like this-

Arizona had a governor's race in 2018 that the Democratic candidate lost after some kind of pro-socialist message. This was after electing Sinema in 2016. There's no lock there and losing Arizona on that map means president trump 2.

He narrowly lost with probably next to zero support from the Cubans.

I'd rather lose Florida entirely than continue to twist into knots to appease that community.

They just won Florida in 2008 and 2012, tho.

You can't really forget about Florida. If you're competing nationwide, Florida houses too many key demographics to forget and too many to make it safely any one way right now.

That's a fine sentiment between you and me, a troublingly risky one from the 2020 Democratic party nomination frontrunner.
