If the choice is between a republican and another republican, sorry, I’m staying home I'm not sure if this was directed toward me or not, but if it was that didn't answer my question. What do you see not voting accomplishing? Maybe you have a compelling reason, or maybe you have a reason that under further investigation doesn't hold. It's hard to figure out which is which though without knowing what you think the decision not to vote would gain you.
MarSolo
Trump is mentally unstable. That’s the grand scheme here, he’s well beyond The Dead Zone’s Greg Stillson level of crazy. For fuck’s sake, he just retweeted a video of a mayor farting.

I’d have a clear conscience in having not voted for an authoritarian billionaire republican. There’s no proof that any progressive policy would come from a Bloomberg presidency. None whatsoever. I’d argue he’d do more damage to progressive policies and victories than his golfing buddy Bill Clinton did. And I’d argue further he’s a more dangerous authoritarian than trump because he can, will, and has used his wealth to buy himself, and only himself, political power. the damage he is doing right now to down ballot races is already disqualifying enough, and there is zero reason to believe he would not run third party if Liz or Bernie is the nominee, as their proposals would directly impact his wealth, the source of his political power, from either increased tax enforcement of the wealthy, increased progressive taxation, or a wealth tax itself. Thanks for answering. I should hope that having a clear conscious is merely an outcome of doing whatever the best action you can take is, even when your actions can only take the form of the least bad action. If you actually believe Bloomberg is a more dangerous authoritarian than Trump, you should not only abstain from voting between a Bloomberg-Trump race, but vote for Trump. But I deeply disagree with that premise and hope you come around to thinking otherwise should we have to face such a horrific choice. Trump's policies are at best the worst the Republicans have to offer, and at worst highly destabilizing and nazi-esque. He's a petulant child that makes me worry he might actually nuke someone in a temper tantrum. A second win for him will only further encourage him in doing whatever he wants because he'll think "see the people are fine with me doing whatever I want." And while both Trump and Bloomberg may have their selfish interests at heart, Trump is *bad* at business. He's the guy who lost money with a casino. But as president, when he makes a bad decision, he also brings the entire country with him.

Greatoneshere
As much as I agree with @b_m_b_m_b_m, Bloomberg isn't as bad as Trump, but he is close, and at that stage, aren't we just splitting hairs? A man with less bad (but still bad!) policies who can hide them better is, in some ways, more dangerous, that can't be denied. I'm 100% Pakistani-American (and my wife is an immigrant) and I can tell you both options are depressing, even if they aren't equally depressing. We have better candidates right now in the field. Why are we even considering Bloomberg? Let's make sure it doesn't get to that, I hope.
Greatoneshere
It's no surprise De Blasio endorsed Bernie - he's not perfect, but he does consider himself a progressive. I'm glad for the major endorsement regardless, and I love that it snubs Bloomberg at the same time.

He told officers that “someone had to take a stand.” “The suspect then showed another video to us of him and driving towards the tent with the victims standing in front of the tent,” the police report states. “The video cuts out prior to him actually striking the tent.” The report also said, “The suspect advised that he does not like President Trump and that is part of [redacted]. atom631
The only reason I like Bloomberg is because it takes away a key talking point of trump supporters and takes away a lot of trumps own talking points. Bloomberg is actually a self-made billionaire. And he’s actually smart. And following him on twitter and FB - he’s not afraid to go low and hit trump where it hurts - his money. He’s constantly taking shots about how it was his daddy’s money, he’s a failed businessman, etc. I love it and trump can’t counter it to Bloomberg. so many trump supporter’s excuse for tolerating trump is “he’s a good businessman” and “not a cOmMiE sOcIALiSt“. Well Bloomberg isn’t a socialist and he’s a better businessman. Sadly, I don’t think this country is ready for a democratic socialist or a far-left leaning candidate. There’s just too many boomers left that have been corrupted by Fox and the young people aren’t coming out to vote.

I don’t like Bloomberg buying the election, but let’s not pretend that there’s no difference between him and trump. This is why I hate all the shitty in-fighting right now. They'll shrug their shoulders and say "So what? Who cares?" And once again, this feeds into the complex that liberals have where they are compelled to "take away talking points" from the right instead of correctly ignoring them and actually defining their ideology on its own merits rather than allowing the right to shape the contours of the political battlefield and therefore immediately starting on the defensive. Until liberals learn the value of the "So what? Who cares?" approach, they will always start from the losing position.
