PaladinSolo
Like over half of these candidates aren't even hitting 1% in polling, meaning they won't even make it to the debates, so i don't even know why more people keep signing up to run. SaysWho?
Everyone thinks they can do it except Gravel. It's so different when you're in the arena. It's easy for us to say, "wtf dude?" But one example I always remember: Bob Beckel has been on CNN and Fox as a political guest, and while he's not particularly insightful, there was one thing he said after Obama won Indiana/North Carolina in 08 against Hillary that stuck with me. He talked about managing Walter Mondale's 1984 campaign against Reagan. I'm paraphrasing, but in regards to Hillary not leaving the race when it was clear she had no chance of winning, he said something like, "I was Walter Mondale's campaign manager in a year where we lost 49 states except Minnesota; it was a landslide loss. On Election Night, I really thought if we had one more week, we could have won." It's just a different mindset. Sanders thought he could win in 2016 and actually was competitive in a bunch of states even if he never really threatened Hillary's lead. It would probably be weird to have that job thinking the whole time, damn we're gonna lose big time. It's probably like being an athlete, you can't compete at the biggest level telling yourself you're a loser who shouldn't be there. You gotta tell yourself you're the best and you're going to win, even if everyone else has their money on the other guy/team.

SaysWho?
Bernie Sanders personally spearheaded campaign strategy to take on Joe Biden Quote The decision by Bernie Sanders' campaign to immediately engage with Joe Biden -- in a series of public remarks, tweets and emails to supporters -- came from the top, campaign manager Faiz Shakir told CNN on Thursday. "This was driven by Sen. Sanders himself," Shakir said in an interview. "He said, 'Why the heck should I wait to draw contrast between the two of us? That is what a primary is all about.'" Quote "On many issues, Vice President Biden has been wrong first," Shakir said. "In some cases (like the war in Yemen) he has course corrected. In others (like trade) he maintains the wrong position." According to Shakir, Biden's position on trade will continue to be a point of special emphasis for Sanders, who has been bothered by his rival's efforts to present himself as a "union man," while still -- as he did this week -- defending his support for NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement. Biden in Iowa said he did not regret his vote for NAFTA. Sanders opposed it and has called on President Donald Trump to "go back to the drawing board" on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), his administration's renegotiated version of the deal. Rejecting scientifically backed policy in a continued effort to avoid taking a stance has pushed me from not understanding the appeal of Buttigieg to leaning toward disliking him. And even better, the article was update to do damage control because his campaign knew his "personal belief" caveat was stupid and wouldn't play well. Quote After this article was published, the campaign added in a "clarifying statement" early Wednesday that Buttigieg only supported medical exemptions to vaccinations. "Pete believes vaccines are safe and effective and are necessary to maintaining public health," the spokesperson said. "There is no evidence that vaccines are unsafe, and he believes children should be immunized to protect their health. He is aware that in most states the law provides for some kinds of exemptions. He believes only medical exemptions should be allowed." Beto's wishy-washy nonsense also gets the axe. Quote "I know just about as much as any parent. All three of my kids are vaccinated," O'Rourke said in a video posted by the group. "I know that this is an issue that some people have a difference of opinion on. I’m not as informed as I should be to give you a thoughtful answer." What a leader.
SaysWho?
Jay Inslee unveils 100% Clean Energy Plan Quote The plan, Inslee's first major policy rollout of his presidential campaign, would implement 100% clean energy standards in three key sectors of the American economy -- electricity, vehicles and new buildings -- and represents the major bet Inslee is placing on the importance of climate change to Democratic primary voters as he vies for a chance to take on President Donald Trump in 2020. Quote Inslee's newly released proposal would put a 10-year plan into place that would mandate the following by 2030: "Reach 100% zero emissions in new light- and medium-duty vehicles and all buses, achieve 100% zero-carbon pollution from all new commercial and residential buildings; and set a national 100% Clean Electricity Standard, requiring 100% carbon-neutral power by 2030, putting America on a path to having all clean, renewable and zero- emission energy in electricity generation by 2035." Inslee has staked his entire 2020 campaign on climate change and launched his bid pledging to make the issue -- which he argues impacts "every issue" facing the country -- his focus as president. It could be a good bet: A recent CNN poll found that 82% of Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents find climate change to be a "very important" issue, ranking it at the top of the list ahead of universal health care, tighter gun laws and impeaching Trump.
