Signifyin(g)Monkey
Much of the left is as anti-open borders as the populist right, but on the grounds of labor market protectionism rather than cultural conservatism. There could be a consensus in there somewhere that might assert itself politically. The West's elites best be wary.

Quote “These young students contacted me a week ago asking would I run for president and I responded to them saying, ‘Do you realize how old I am?’” Gravel told The Washington Post. “I’ll be 89 years old in May, so it’s preposterous to think that I could serve as president.” It took some convincing, but Gravel was ultimately persuaded by a three-page strategy memo that the students drafted and their assurance that they would handle all of the day-to-day work of the campaign. Their ultimate goal wasn’t to win the election but rather to qualify him for the Democratic debates, so that he could use that platform to “issue a critique of American militarism, plutocracy, and inaction on climate,” as his newly-created website states. Quote Managing the campaign are David Oks, 17, and Henry Williams, 18. Elijah Emery, 18, handles the finances. The three have a group text-message chat where they frequently talk politics, and worked together in 2017 to try to get Oks elected mayor in his hometown of Ardsley, N.Y. (Ultimately, Oks’s neighbor ended up winning. “Things have been awkward around the neighborhood,” he told The Post. “We don’t talk.") Quote Back in 2008, Gravel had set up a Twitter account, but never used it. Late on Tuesday night, he handed it over to the teenagers, figuring that they knew more about social media than he did. They subsequently went on a rampage, declaring that Henry Kissinger should be sent to the International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague and spend the rest of his life in prison, mocking Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) for allegedly inventing a fake drug-dealer friend and accusing former vice president Joe Biden of having “blood on his hands” from his vote in favor of the Iraq War. Quote You can be a [ENTER CANDIDATE HERE] supporter and also a member of the #GravelGang. We're not aiming to win, just to get in the debates and shift the conversation. Our goal is to forge a Democratic Party that articulates a moral vision on foreign policy and political reform.
SaysWho?
Bernie Sanders to introduce new Medicare-for-All bill. Quote The new legislation's big-name co-sponsors include four of Sanders' fellow 2020 Democratic contenders -- Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand -- all of whom also signed onto an earlier version Sanders put out in 2017. mclumber1
Considering how old Sanders is and how long he's had a 6 figure salary job, he's kind of a failure when it comes to wealth. He's probably bad with money and has a shitty credit rating. Pretty typical socialist.

This needed to happen years ago. If you can get on SSI 1619b, which federally guarantees access to Medicaid, the income limit isn't bad, it scales based on what Medicaid spends on you. Mine in 2018 was about $700k since Medicaid paid for my home care (~$45k) and 5 doses of Spinraza ($125k each + Duke Radiology costs). My income limit will be much lower next year since BCBS now covers Spinraza. The issue is the asset limit of only $2k (SSA have become massive pricks over this recently) which you can only get around with stupid ABLE Account or Special Needs Trust, but that money can only go to 'disability related expenses' (which no one can define in the case of an ABLE Account. 1 hour ago, RedSoxFan9 said: A lot of Democrats are going to fight against M4A so I wouldn’t get your hopes up Bernie has unfortunately not be been very responsive to disability community about this issue, other M4A proposals addressed it first.
