PaladinSolo
Ohio is expected to lose a house seat, and the thought is that Ryan's district will be redrawn and has already recently moved toward a swing district so he has nothing to lose. If you would actually like to view the whole exchange, the question starts at 53 minutes. Translation: "We need to create a massive government bureaucracy (which will leave people frustrated with government, leave many behind because the policy failed to envision their exact circumstance, and be slowly gutted by the Republicans over the next 10 years) to implement the 56 ideas I just spewed, all to stick it Baron Trump." RedSoxFan9
It would be nice if the boy genius thought about what would happen to his plans when Republicans regain power. https://www.npr.org/2018/10/17/653853227/the-student-loan-whistleblower Quote But recent data from the Department of Education show that 99 percent of applications for loan forgiveness have been denied. Free college is better not just because it saves people from student debt, but it will also be much harder for Republicans to dismantle. Pete’s plans are a convoluted mess that the public won’t understand and that will give Republicans an opening to dismantle it.
Anathema-
Let's also make people pay out of pocket for high school otherwise dropouts will be subsidizing upward too. The problem with mayo Pete is that he's constantly two steps forward and one step back.

johnny
A student shouldn’t have to pay 20k per year to go to college but the prices are so absurd I don’t think our tax money should pay it either. A lot more emphasis needs to be put on attending community colleges. Student debt needs to be wiped out or brought down to a manageable level for many. Burn the institution down and start over

Burn the institution down and start over I'm going to take this a step further and say that having ANY collegiate-type education for many professions is simply a waste of time and money. For example, there is absolutely no reason that an accountant (my background) should be required to have a college-type education for this profession - none whatsoever. The requirements for the CPA exam could just as easily be fulfilled through a "trade school" type of environment.

Then that is why a college-type education would exist for those who desire it, but it would be optional and not effectively be a requirement to have a profession/career. If you want to be an accountant or programmer you shouldn't need to take 4 history and english classes. Yes, having people take those classes benefits society. But having each class cost $1,000-$2,000 doesn't, especially if it results in the person not being able to afford school in the first place.
