I'm re-watching Line of Duty. It's such a fantastic series and generally hits highs throughout the 4 seasons. It follows my favourite model of television, short seasons (6-8 episodes), where each episode only last 45 minutes (bar the season finale). It really helps with pacing and keeping everything chugging along.

General Gaming What are you playing today?

After a week or so of Yakuza, I've returned back to the Last of Us Part 2 and where I was unsure with Yakuza, there is no uncertainty with TLoU. It's such a great game and one of the few games where I don't want to stop playing. Update: I also looked at the DS games that I have e available and it’s quite substantial. I think then my summer goals will be to finish the Last of Us 2 and (for the first time) A Link to the Past and possibly one DS game, most likely Soul Silver. -
It might just be me but it seemed weirdly slow when it came out

Only until I’m about 55 then I can have my resurgence.

So, I'm going to work for the next two weeks and then that will be me. With that in mind, I said to my manager, when he asked when I could work, "put me in for whenever you need". Just checking this morning, working Monday - Saturday, 1- 9am. At least I can hand my notice in on the 3rd of August. Though my reward for that will be planning for the upcoming school year and carrying on with landscaping my garden/decorating my house before it's baby time.

For those that do not frequent the "what you playing" thread, you'll not know that I've recently bought, and played, Yakuza 0. I've never played a game in the series and the most I've looked into it has been a Giant Bomb Quick Look about...five year ago. I'm aware that it's popular both in Asia and in the wider world and that it involved (shockingly) the Yakuza, some strong story telling and a beat 'em up approach to gameplay. I've just finished the 4th chapter and I still can't tell whether I'm enjoying the game or not. The story has been interesting (and plenty of twists), the combat is enjoyable if a little bit easy at the moment, but I don't know whether the loop is that amazing. I keep finding myself going back to play more, but I'm not sure if I'm actually enjoying the game, or if it I just have a need to finish something that I've started. For those that have played Zero, are invested in the series, or not, what do you make of it and what are it's draws?

This feels like a proper Rare game. Lot's of imagination with little, or no direction.

Yep. I had tonsilitus twice when I was younger (10-11) but nothing since. Of all the weird opinions, it was the best 'illness' I've ever had. I felt tired and had a very sore throat but that meant a) I didn't have to talk to anyone b) ate 'soothing foods c) wasn't so wiped out I couldn't just spend the entire time off school playing N64 and doing the tiny amounts of homework sent home

Pre-season rugby training tonight, so we did: Quick game of football (soccer) as a 10 minute warm up Two 50m shuttles in 45s, 12x total Some passing drills Some running drills Another type of running drill Another type of passing drill Touch rugby It was good and great to get out on the field. Going to do some extras on Saturday to keep pushing the fitness. Found out as well, with working again for the last 7 weeks and doing more exercise, I've lost about 12lbs without even realising. I would love to drop the same again before September if I can.

Books What Are You Reading or Listening To?

Finished The Testaments the other day and it was wonderful. I liked the Handmaids Tale, but really enjoyed the world that was created and The Testaments just takes that and goes with it. I read There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom in an afternoon and it was OK (not Holes) and now moved onto The Mars Room. -

It won’t happen but I’d love to find out how Metroid Prime 4 is progressing -
Online learning works for children that engage with it, but as a teacher you can’t make the day-to-day assessments you need to gauge pupil progress. It’s not a long term solution and you’d think the US would look at how the UK has approached reopening schools whilst the pandemic continues. There are however significant issues for children that were already progressing more slowly than their peers or children at risk who have no support. EDIT: when you write a post replying to the OP and not the third page comments...

Yakuza Zero. The in-laws are down at the moment and as I’m sure they wouldn’t care for The Last of Us 2 and the fact I’m playing through it with my wife, I thought I’d carry on with this whilst my mother in law and wife make dinner. I’m finding it so much more enjoyable than I did at the beginning and although I don’t think I’ll become a series obsessive, I no longer feel like I’ve wasted my money. It was worth it for pool, darts and the arcade alone. UPDATE: I spent about 20 minutes trying to win a Squirrel in a UFO machine. What has my life become? -
Definitely this. I think IGN made a decent recap of the series to be watched prior to God of War 2018

The tone of the story wasn’t that great, the gameplay whilst challenging didn’t have an interesting hook (they mentioned there were limited types of side quest, which made me think of Prototype which I really enjoyed for about 10 hours then became bored) and overall Jan and Jeff both mentioned they just didn’t think it was great That’s just two opinions though and I’d be interested to hear from D1P members

https://www.thegamer.com/n64-video-games-look-amazing-forgot/ There are some N64 games that I still play and don't find horrific to look at, but I do really wish I had a CRT to play them on rather than a 1080p television. Worse as I have a decent one at my parents house but my wife is adamant we aren't having it in our house as it would clutter the place up...(half the reason why, when we eventually move, I would love a loft conversion where I can stash my older consoles and a TV to play them on)
