  1. So yeah, reading got way off track last month with traveling and all. I'm about a third of the way through Black House now, but it's picking up. Also reading Wolfhunter River by Rachel Caine on my Kindle. I did read A Haunting on the Hill by Elizabeth Hand since I got back, but didn't like it. Basically billed as a sequel to Shirley Jackson's Hill House, but this just wasn't good. I hated all the characters and honestly wanted them all to die by the end.
  2. Taking the GBC to work tonight and maybe finishing Kriby's Dreamland 2. Brought Kirby's Pinball for good measure.
  3. Yep, he's watched that channel some. He was oogling sadly over retro PCs at a Hard Off there. Really expensive and too heavy to reasonably transport back home, though. Some even had the caps replaced.
  4. Washington Post, that's it. Well, I do have some magazine subs.
  5. Yeah, he’s a giant Falcom nerd. Notice all the Falcom soundtracks in the CD pic.
  6. Husband bought that, I know nothing about it. Took him forever to find it.
  7. Alan Wake 2 on PC and I actually got a wild hair and picked up the old Game Boy Color to play some Kirby's Dreamland 2 tonight.
  8. Way too many in Japan. Mostly retro stuff, but I did grab Super Mario Bros Wonder, Detective Pikachu Returns, Pikmin 4, and NEO: The World Ends with You on Switch while I was there. Bought Alan Wake 2 on PC when I got back.
  9. Oh, and @stepee, when you go, I highly recommend picking up a Goshuin book at the first bigger shrine or temple you visit. They're very cool and a cheaper way to collect memories. They're small stamp books, you can buy them generally under 2000 yen and most shrines and temples you visit, you take the book to a designated place and one of the sacred people working there will place a red stamp in it and do a bit of calligraphy noting the date you visited said shrine or temple. Stamping costs 300 or 500 yen depending on the place. But I had such a great time collecting stamps and got a decent few. Here's mine, I picked it up at the Gokoku Shrine in Hiroshima and and example of the stamp you get.
  10. I know @Biggie wanted me to post pics of some of my scores, so here we go. I bought a ton of shit, but this is most of the game stuff. There are some additional small figures, trinkets, etc. but this is the big stuff. We went crazy on game CDs. And as you can tell, I focused a lot on Kirby and Dragon Quest because there's just so muich of it easily found.
  11. I’m glad Texas won, if my team isn’t in it, I’ll go for the team that has never won or hasn’t won in ages.
  12. Technical difficulties prevented us from watching this on the long haul flights, so we started it today. 3 episodes in and I'm really liking it. Actually more than the prior series. Gonna watch more after dinner.
  13. I meant to tell you I couldn't get a good translation on that the other day.
  14. I dunno, they're both in my top 10 of all time and I tend to put them together. I guess I have a slight preference toward PArt I since the pacing is better to me. But I replayed them both back to back earlier this year and still loved them.
  15. Same, except I didn't wear sandals. And the constant pavement walking is worse than if I'm walking in more natural terrain, like hiking.
  16. We bought so much stuff, it's gonna take days to sort it out. We did manage to not have to ship anything back or have to buy another checked bag. One of the guys we went with managed to get everything in his giant checked back and gave us his carry-on to use for the leftovers. Took some ingenious packing skills, but we made it work...barely. And nothing was broken! One of our friends got us into game CD collecting over there. Got a ton of amazing soundtracks.
  17. Well, I already told you I'm planning the UK for next year. Sooo many places I wanna visit.
  18. Done for the day, going home tomorrow. It’s been an amazing trip, best one I’ve ever taken. But I’m also tired and walked so much in the last three weeks that my feet are all screwed up. Worth it, though. I miss my house and my bed and my dog.
  19. Yeah, I love Maine. It’s my favorite state I’ve visited and can’t wait to return. This really sucks.
  20. Fuck America. It was so weird here when I first saw all these model guns that were perfect replicas of actual Glocks or whatever, then I realized…no one really has guns in Japan so it’s not a big deal.
  21. I forget what thread, but Keyser was one reason. Honestly, the thread that did it didn’t seem that bad, but I guess there were other factors.
  22. I did at the Dragon Quest bar, but why?
