  1. He is, and it kills me to lose him. What am I gonna do with my Mookie shirt and jersey? Think I'll keep his autograph for a while, though.
  2. Yes, yes I did. I’m just used to speaking how I do amongst my medical peers. We constantly see people suffer from their poor lifestyles and it’s quite depressing.
  3. I’m quite sure I never said anyone deserves anything. Just to clarify in case you’re not deliberately trolling. Years of smoking often results in cancer. Or COPD. It’s not that someone deserves it, it’s just science and probability.
  4. Seeing death on a regular basis, I've just come to accept it as a natural part of life. And why should someone feel sympathy for a shit stain of a human being who caused suffering his entire career and did himself in? I'm not going to dance on his eventual grave, but, meh. The world is better without some people in it and I'm not going to pretend to feel sorry for someone like that just so I can put myself on some false moral pedestal.
  5. Not that I need to defend him, because there are countless examples of him being a terrible person, but I can’t find where he said this particular thing.
  6. It doesn't matter. My great uncle just got his diagnosis. He quit 25 years or more ago, but the damage to his lungs was already done after 30 years of 4-5 packs a day.
  7. In medical terms, it means it's spread to other organs outside the primary site and is unlikely to be cured.
  8. Not really, but there is an actual thread for general baseball discussion and I kind of get tired of seeing the sign stealing scandal headlining the top of the page.
  9. Why is all this being discussed in the cheating thread, though, and not the general baseball thread?
  10. It's hard for me to have sympathy for anyone making hundreds of millions of dollars in a few short years.
  11. We can agree to disagree. Very few teams can afford to pay him or any player $400 million +. Especially if Boston is trying to get below the tax threshold. As much as I hate to see him leave, trading him makes sense. I get guys wanting to go for top dollar, but I respect guys like Bogaerts who stay loyal to their team and take a "discount" to stay there.
  12. I remember being amazing when A-rod shattered the record with his first $250 million contract. Then he broke his own record a few years later. Now we've got $300 and $400 million becoming a regular thing. Meh. I'm never going to be on board with that.
  13. Yes, that's one take. But I've also been following the story for years. He's been quite insistent that he wants to test FA. $420 million is also absurd.
  14. I could expect it from someone who doesn’t follow football or just isn’t very familiar with American geography in general. The POTUS should know these things, though. At least I’d expect any other POTUS but this one to know. It’s just another example of his complete ignorance of the geography of the country he’s leading and there are a lot of examples.
  15. If you’ve followed the saga at all, he’s made it extremely clear he never had any intention of signing an extension and has always been determined to test the market in FA.
