I'm afraid I'm walking into a shit show tonight. I've had this patient who has pneumonia and he's a lot sicker than I'd expect from a guy his age and such. He's requiring a lot of O2 and laboring and probably needs to be moved to the unit, or at least intermediate care, but he's still on my floor. We're so short on beds. Coworker texted me today and said they were worried he had covid, based on the radiology images(he is fully vaxxed), but his swab came back negative. Last night, I had a patient suddenly develop a tension pneumothorax( a medical emergency) and it took a minute to find an ICU bed because everything is so full. ER has so many ICU holds because there's just no place to put them. It's bad.

Lost a 25 year old covid pneumonia patient tonight. Unvaccinated, been on a vent. Maxed on pressors. Really nothing else to be done.

Late at night after the husband goes to bed. He knows I do it, I just feel weird doing it around him. I have sexual weirdness.

Since work is going to require it now, some people are throwing fits. One nurse said she's just going to retire, because her religion won't allow her to get it. She's Church of Christ. Not sure why she says that, I know quite a few from that denomination who got it. A secretary said she can't get it because she's "religious." But she just posted a photo of herself at a club wearing a dress that was see-through with a black thong. Ummm, does Jesus approve?

I had a Michelob Ultra and a Malibu and orange juice with friends after work this morning.

My hospital announced today that they're going to require all employees be vaccinated by November. Medical and religious exemptions apply. Though I always wondered how many legit religious objections there are to vaccination.

I'm just tired of it all. Job is stressful, it's not like I can shut myself away anyhow, I haven't gone anywhere at all in 3 years, since we decided to skip a trip in 2019 and save some money. That worked out well. We're fully vaxxed, we just wanna go somewhere.

Yeah, that made me feel a lot better. We're starting in Boston and seeing a Sox game, but after that, it's pretty much going to be solo exploration type stuff. Like going to Acadia.

So far, I'm still keeping my Sept vacation plans for Maine.

I use Yeti Ramblers at work. I have 4 of them. I'll use a Yeti tumbler at home.

My husband uses bar soap. Dr Squatch, it smells amazing and his skin is so much better with it. I use body wash, though.

Starting Different Seasons by Stephen King. Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies of all time and I'm really overdue to read the book. I've also never seen Stand By Me, so I'm going into The Body with hardly any knowledge.

Liver failure is definitely a terrible way to go. Had a guy in his 30s recently die. He didn't think he was gonna go anytime soon. Bled like crazy and shit himself all night then just went. When I walked in and found him dead, called the code and the doc said "we'll run this 10 minutes, then call it." Yeah, it's not pretty.

Had this 100 year old patient a couple months ago. She had a six pack of local brew for her 100th in April. Still goes to the gym 3 times a week and does volunteer work. I'd take that.

My night was spent cleaning up tube feed dookie and getting showered with skin snowflakes. That shower I just took felt reeeeallll good.
