Almost done with Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I'm getting this in before the new year. Gonna try to finish this book Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy on my Kindle. I really liked her most recent, Once There Were Wolves, but this one has me struggling. But it's short, so I'm just gonna make a quick push. Then I should finish the year with 95 books read.

Finally got boosted, a year after my original shots. Guy at the pharmacy said my card was the earliest he'd seen.

Yeah, I can get that, more so with the mental health disorders. But it just kinda is what it is. Honestly, I probably use both terms all the time. But the noncompliant part is just dumb. There’s no other way to put it. They told me it was offensive because no one is truly noncompliant, they just don’t know better or are unable to do better. I largely call bullshit there. See my patient consuming massive amounts of carbs.

I think they took the issue with the noncompliant part. That was offensive. We still use terms like diabetic all the time, though. That’s never going to change.

Lol, probably. Like, come work healthcare and see what I mean. Diabetic patient literally ordered a large pizza and a 2 liter root beer, consumed it all, then when his glucose was in the 500s, he just said it was the steroids.

I once got bombarded with crazies on social media because I used the term “noncompliant diabetics.” I dunno if that’s wokeism, but it definitely seemed dumb.

I’ve been exclusively ASICS for a while. But I think in the next week or so, I’m gonna go to a local store and check out Hoka and On Cloud. I’m needed a new work pair and they’re all the rage with nurses these days. Tennis shoes are basically all I wear. I don’t spend crazy amounts, but I don’t mind going up to $140 or so for a good pair.

I ended up with a ton of new books, which is exactly what I wanted. A new Yeti tumbler in a green I love, some comfy hoodies, and insulated hunting pants. Yep, I’m happy. Hunting sucks, though. No good when it’s 70 degrees outside.

My aunt made lasagna for tonight’s meal. It was delicious. And my Momo made me a chocolate pie. Yum.

At my family’s. Did dinner and gifts tonight with my dad’s family. Mom and dad work tonight and my Mamaw has been hospitalized lately, so not doing our usual Christmas Day dinner tomorrow. Just grilling some burgers and exchanging gifts with them tomorrow afternoon.

Been reading a little slower lately, with my work schedule, getting involved in Far Cry 6, and some social events. Finshed NOS4A2 last night. That was a great read. Joe Hill definitely has his dad's talent. Down to the last quarter of Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Hoping to finish it before New Years. Started Gwendy’s Button Box by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar. This will be a short one. I wanna read this and the sequel before the final book releases in February.

Yep. My parents always have a big pile of wood that they’ve cut and bonfires are a thing, especially during the colder months. Used to have a deep burn pit dug by a backhoe when I was a teenager. It was dark and I fell in one night when we had a bonfire. It had rained so there was water at the bottom, along with a recent deer carcass. 15 feet down. Pretty traumatizing.

Not everyone goes searching for spoilers. Many of us just watch the trailers and leave it at that. I don't think it's too much to ask that blatant spoilers be kept under tags for at the very least the first weekend.

Uh, I just double checked the second trailer. Nope. The entire time, they were playing coy about that fact.
