  1. I didn't notice any difference from the Alpha. That said, I got used to flying with the mouse. I can imagine that a few hours of practice will make everything better.
  2. Nope. Destiny controls felt tight -- sniping headshots felt very crisp and easy with the mouse. These felt much less precise. Flying> Anything Destiny has for combat Overheating < Sparrow for moving around the level They felt off to me. Not sure what it was, it felt like I struggled a little to get the cursor over exactly where I was shooting. I'm assuming they didn't fix the problems that were widely reported in the VIP demo.
  3. So my thoughts after a few rounds: 1) Weapons are varied, as are the abilities -- lots of different opportunities to customize your javelin 2) Framerate is really bad -- I think I may need to turn my settings down, I was mostly in the 40s, with drops to high 20s 3) Enemy variety was actually pretty good 4) Story was nonsensical garbage -- this does not seem to have any of Bioware's special touch 5) Controls weren't great Combat as a whole was pretty fun -- but if you don't vary up the combat (different powers, weapons and javelins), I'm sure it could get pretty stale after a few hours. I understand the comparisons to Destiny -- but this doesn't feel like Destiny at all. The controls are nowhere near as good, the level design and narrative structure feel completely different.
  4. My PC isn't able to log in at the moment -- was hoping to play some FH4...
  5. Wow. After seeing all the positive comments here, I was expecting the performance on console to be much better. Hopefully they fix the low 20s framerate dips for the retail release. I'm surprised they're not doing something like adaptive framerate to keep a stable 30 fps.
  6. Shadow of the Tomb Raider -- I started it in September, but stopped playing when FH4 came out. I'm now probably 80% of the way through. And it gets a solid "meh+" -- my least favourite of the trilogy. Anthem Demo -- pre-loaded and waiting for noon, when the servers come online Forza Horizon 4 -- gotta do my dailies and weeklies!
  7. Looking forward to trying the demo later today (my whole family, and I, are hit with the Flu, so I am at home on a weekday). I'm hoping that it shows a lot better than the alpha -- graphically it was very impressive, there was lots of combat options, but the enemy design was uninspired, and it was impossible to say whether this game would have the BioWare magic.
  8. Wow. Did the Giant Bomb guys hate Anthem. Just listened to the Bombcast.
  9. If all you want are additional Ethernet ports, then buy a 4-port gigabit network switch -- shouldn't cost much more than $15. Why do you need more than 400 Mbits for a tablet?
  10. Try doing a speedtest connected directly to your modem. Try doing a speedtest connected through your router -- I would anticipate you won't see much of a downgrade. Try doing a speedtest connected via Wi-Fi -- this should be much slower. If you're unhappy with the speed, and don't have an 802.11ac router, you may want to upgrade.. If you're an idiot like me, you'll drop hundreds of dollars on a router that has features (like Wifi 6) that no clients yet support...
  11. I had problem with the drivers for my Xbox One Controller that after multiple attempts at re-installing the drivers wouldn't fix -- they went away after a fresh install of Windows.
  12. https://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-hid-compliant-mouse-not-working-on-windows-10.html
  13. I wonder how much of this was David Cage wanting to go multi-platform, vs. Sony not wanting to fund Quantic Dream's games anymore...
  14. Metal Gear -- Made me appreciate just how good story telling could be in a game AC2 -- I finally started to like open world games -- a game finally came that had a living/breathing open world Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 -- Finally, an RPG that actually had fun combat and moment-to-moment gameplay RDR2 -- The combination of a (relatively) good story (for a game), combined with a vibrant open world really got me into the concept that open world games might be for me... =============== As someone who has enjoyed the AC series, and recognizing there were some down entries (specifically AC:Revelations, AC:Unity and the original AC being the worst) -- I still think that AC:Origins was far from being the best game in the series. I enjoyed ACIV, AC2 and AC2: Brotherhood (and probably AC: Syndicate) more... Although I think we had a thread dedicated to this discussion a few months ago.
  15. Do people actually watch the half time show? In my household, it is the best time to get more food/go to the washroom/get another beer. No one wants to miss the game/commercials.
  16. That's why I didn't buy one. (If you had asked me last August, I was 100% convinced I was going to get one of their new cards.)
  17. I have occasionally had a similar issue on my monitor that can be fixed by cycling the power. @Xbob42 Have you tried resetting to factory default settings?
  18. Interesting writeup by Digital Foundry. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2019-01-28-best-freesync-monitors-for-nvidia-graphics-cards-7044 I hadn't realized that some Freesync monitors had such narrow VRR ranges.
  19. They've pretty much said that it will be capped at 30fps on console. They have said that current builds have already fixed the laggy controls that are currently in the demo.
  20. I found that the ME combat was what I liked least about the game -- and I'm not looking for a game with a loot grind. Any sense of whether this will have enough story/non-combat gameplay to make it worth playing in a single-player-like way?
  21. It’s huge. It might be bigger than the Jeep. Yes. I expect clients to begin supporting it this fall.
  22. My router was giving me some problems (and was slow, and only supported 802.11n)… So I went out and bought a new router.... And bought this.. A ROG GT-AX11000 -- I don't have any clients that support 802.11ax (or Wifi6), so that capability is currently wasted... However, with a tri-band router - I am no longer having some of my clients randomly drop off my network, and I seem to have a MUCH stronger signal in the far corners of my house. I bought it open box, so I saved $90 (and it came with a copy of COD:BOIII) - so it's not as bad as if I had bought a current NIB version. But still... Am I insane?
  23. Anthem Hands-On Impressions: A Sturdy Frame in Need of Some Polish I'm a little concerned after reading this...
