It's always struck me as weird that you can make it all the way through calc III, so potentially like a year or three semesters into college, before getting exposed to what you'll actually be doing as a math major.

Calc 3 was probably the first class where there were hints of actual math and I loved it. Probably my favorite undergrad math course.

I then promptly took no more "official" math courses mainly because of scheduling. But naturally, I've learned a lot of real math after that.

  2. Math is taught terribly. That's not a knock on the recent changes in method. I think those are actually for the better. Just across the board its taught in the most soul sucking way. They teach you how to be a computer rather than how to do math. They are not the same thing.

Incidentally, I regularly programmed my TI-83 to solve math problems so that I didn't have to in HS. That's the point of the computer. Actual math is far more interesting.

Halo was a very good game, however I don't really understand putting it on a pedestal.  There were other great shooters before it (i.e. Half Life, Quake 3, etc.) that, on the whole, were better games.  They DID figure out how to finally get decent FPS controls on a controller -- but those controls are still far inferior to KB/Mouse.

Not everything is for everyone. But Halo was and remains an amazing game. I played a lot of  PC shooters back then too: The *original* (as in Quake 1) TF, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Tribes, etc. More story driven "first person" games like Deus Ex were also one of my favorite games of the time. (Deus Ex still ranks really high for me). Halo still stole my and my friends time more than any other shooter at the time though.

I was 30 last year. This year I am 31 lol.

No wizard powers at  31 either.

Lol I missed the time stamp of this thread. Well, 31 is still good and in that range! :p

    Banjo Kazooie

    Tekken 3

    Xenogears

    Panzer Dragoon Saga

    NFL Blitz

    Gran Turismo

    Parasite Eve

Fair or not, if you take out the remakes this year, I think 1998 has it beat overall. So many of those games were pillars and sort of still are of the entire industry.

You missed the most important one: Myth 2: Soulblighter!

  6. It's fucking Baldur's Gate 3.

It's the most game that ever gamed. It's the game pitch that every nerd would talk about making but never could and would never have the budget to do. But Swen fucking did it. The mad man in armor did it.

The only possible criticism I could raise was it ends somewhat abruptly after everything is said and done. But they just released a giant patch with a massive epilogue (that I will be playing this weekend), so I guess that's not going to be a criticism after all.

    Also, they added penis physics.

    It's BG3.

TotK was excellent though, and SM2 has the most fun traversal out there.
