This is spot on with my feelings.

I don't have a problem with it being derivative per se. I have a problem with the chosen direction of the reveal trailer and the fact that it doesn't even do it well. The gameplay screens give me hope though.

I wouldn't object to more, but I'm totally okay with this. It ends well and not everything needs to go on.

Might be an NPC tagging along. There are some other screens trickling out with just the party of 3 and look similar.

I want this to be good. I'm a huge fan of Pillars. But I need to see updated gameplay since our last preview.

You know, I'm pretty sure I played Perfect Dark Zero and I can't remember a damn thing about it. (I do remember the OG, but that's too old to expect any commonality)

My hope is that a post BG3 world will inspire more investment in classic RPG goodness. The new DA was far too far along in development when BG3 hit to be that, but my hope is more will. More likely though is we'll get a bunch of high budget games that investors think looks sufficiently like a BG3 game, but is not and then they'll decide it's still not a profitable genre.

It looks like it's trying to be that, but (1) failed and (2) is not what I wanted from DA.

I think what I like about this is it's giving me major Deus Ex vibes (RIP)

This trailer looks substantially worse than anything in those games. Although I suppose its possible their reveal trailers were bad too. I can't remember. Also, DA:I had an awesome theme. God the shitty modern cover music in TVG reveal was off-tone and bad.

The more I think about this reveal trailer the more I hate it. It feels like like everything about it was designed by a suit. The marketing they're doing on twitter with phrases like "We're finally ready to reveal our most compelling companions yet in #DragonAge! Meet the #Veilguard 💜" paired with this awful trailer makes me hate it more. It feels a lot like Rebel Moon where they are trying so fucking hard to have these cool quirky and light hearted heroes but it just fucking sucks. I so hope all that is because the reveal was designed by a suit, but not the game.
