  1. That just sounds too simplified. You're basically talking about an RPG with no speed or evasion stats. I don't find that very fun. The issue you're having is that you remember the bad dice rolls more than the good ones when they really do just about break even. I like games where your strategies need built in contingency plans for when/if an action fails.
  2. I can't be the only person that hates the idea of an RPG with no dice rolls. It just feels wrong.
  3. Pokemon's biggest problem is competitive play. They're too afraid shaking up the formula will mess with their thirty years of competitive history. They need to divorce competitive play from the core game. What they should do is have the core games be these wild experimental games with new Pokemon, have the Let's Go games be these simplified games for younger audiences, and bring back the Stadium games for competitive play.
  4. How is Tim Horton's a comparable local business? Either way, this doesn't seem too bad. I've spent about the same amount the donuts at a local donut shop in Boston. A dozen donuts from, say, Kane's will run you some $40. Completely worth it too. Their turtle donut is perfect.
  5. Here are a few more for the extra nerdy folks that care for the programming and technical work behind these games. Retro Game Mechanics Explained... Displaced Gamers... Also, since we're talking about serious game analysis channels on YouTube, how about a pure parody of all those with Polygon's Unraveled series?
  6. Learning while black. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/black-texas-teen-told-cut-his-dreadlocks-order-walk-graduation-n1120731 School dress code dictates that long hair on boys must not have below the ears in school, so this kid has worn his dreads tied up. Seems the school decided that wasn't good enough halfway through the school year and is now demanding he cut his hair shorter if he wants to graduate.
  7. We should include some game music analysis here. How about... 8-Bit Music Theory... Game Score Fanfare... Though, lately it seems Game Score Fanfare is veering off from being a purely game music channel. For some documentary stuff, People Make Games is it great...
  8. Chalk me up as another person that thought this was already the case years ago.
  9. Not so wild. I don't recall who said it, speaking of this election, but minority voters can be very pragmatic. Since we'll often feel like our vote gets lost in the noise, the next best bet would be to support whoever is closest to your views and has a decent chance of winning over the white vote. The more it seems like Biden would lose against Trump, the more minority voters he'll wind up losing.
  10. One of just a handful of channels I support on Patreon. His work and presentation is so damn clean.
  11. Let's resurrect this story. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/jan/21/amazon-boss-jeff-bezoss-phone-hacked-by-saudi-crown-prince So we may be looking at a scenario where the Saudi prince grabbed those dick pics in a data dump he initiated via a WhatsApp chat he had with Bezos. The Saudi government would then have shared those photos with either AMI, directly, or through some other proxy.
  12. Buy a pre-built desktop. It WILL be more expensive than a console, but you should more than make up for the costs on the backend with cheaper games and no monthly subscription. I mean, you could also get a gaming PC that's close-ish to the price of a console. The games just won't look as good, but they'll still run fine.
  13. At what point do we get a straight Fire Emblem fighting game? Like, Fire Emblem X Soulcalibur?
  14. It totally sort of counts. Nintendo is already have a Tokyo Mirage Sessions event in Fire Emblem Heroes and it was no mistake they dropped this reveal the day before its release.
  15. Blah. I hope this isn't the only character they announce. I know Sakurai loves Fire Emblem and we have another Fire Emblem game coming out this week, but still. We really don't need more Fire Emblem characters.
  16. I'd love to see Akira from Astral Chain. I'm always down for characters that have multiple play styles, so here they'd just swap between Legions. I guess the bigger question is whether we see a Nintendo franchise character or not.
  17. The NCAA's rules make protect sense as long as you remember they're there to maintain their control over college sports and make colleges and universities lots of money.
  18. There's no need to investigate them. If there was, EVERY team would be under investigation. The league issued their warning and by all accounts I've seen, the Dodgers and most other teams dropped it. Houston's problem is that they didn't and they're getting a slap on the wrist because of it.
