  1. It's a straight ban in my city. People are not happy. I'd hate to see what their Facebook update looks like, but I don't have a Facebook account so... eh.
  2. Considering that last year we had hundreds of kids come through, many from out of town, yeah...I'm pulling the car into the garage and going lights out. I might also get a bunch of pumpkins to line up and block off the porch, just to drive the message home.
  3. Cool. People in my city had started to stop taking COVID-19 seriously and we're spiking so trick or treating had now been banned. The folks that don't take masks seriously seem like the same type that will try to ignore a trick or treating ban. I'm on a cul-de-sac that's known for being pretty generous with candy, so we always get huge waves of kids. I wonder how things will look this year.
  4. Obama's presidency was boring. It's why Fox had to make up stupid scandals left and right. I'd take boring right now. The problem with Trump and the news cycle is that a LOT of what Trump does would be a legitimate scandal talked about all year round...and he has at least once of those every week. It's exhausting. I can't imagine how much overtime Fox pundits must put in to spin it all.
  5. This is the shit that infuriates and terrifies me. I've mentioned before that my second oldest is on the spectrum and doesn't talk much. This is a piece of defunding that needs to happen. Schools have money to have cops on staff, but not enough for someone who specializes in special needs? That's exactly what my wife does. Special needs teacher/therapist who sometimes has to talk special needs students out of disruptive episodes. This shouldn't be difficult.
  6. I could totally see Amazon pick up Regal, but they'd make it so you could only buy tickets through their app or in person at a kiosk...so basically the same way I've been buying movie tickets for the last few non-COVID years.
  7. Fresh ideas like Disney owning their own theaters that sell tickets for 50% off with free popcorn if you buy them through your Disney+ subscription.
  8. I recently had to explain this to my mother when she was shocked to learn that an older couple she knew was totally racist. My mother didn't realize her and my father were the token minority friends that were one of the good ones.
  9. That's the part that sucks. We've been lucky and managed to go from there to three kids...even if child number three nearly killed her and her doctors say they can't ethically allow her to bring another pregnancy to term. But the US it's awesome. We got left with nearly $10k in medically bills for a child we never had. That was with insurance.
  10. I know family and friends that are staunchly pro-birth and whatever I remind them that my wife had an abortion they'll say stuff like "well, that's different" or "yeah, but she didn't have a choice". It's hair pulling.
  11. I'm really curious to know how much BotW lore they're going to dunno into this game. It really looks like the answer is going to be "a lot".
  12. I feel for you. Luckily, I'm in Massachusetts so we don't have to deal with the bullshit policies you might find in some redder states. I went through something similar before we had our oldest. We spent nearly an entire month going back and forth with doctors trying to figure out if the pregnancy was viable. The time you spend going back and forth with weekly ultrasounds, blood tests, and every other test you can run a pregnant woman and fetus through.
  13. Biden needs whatever support he can get, even if these guy's biggest problem is that Trump will turn people against future Republicans.
  14. I'd agree with that and posit that a company that can nearly break s person mentally shouldn't be allowed to continue. Like, seriously, fuck those people. You never know what someone's personal life is like. They might accept the perks and pay because they have kids or a partner that can't work or parents they take care of our whatever. Maybe they like the extra money, but my main point still stands. Even if people are willfully putting themselves in these situations for the money or art or vision or perks still doesn't mean that anybody should be the weird nerd that white knight for these soulless corporations, no matter how much they might enjoy their games.
  15. I have toddlers. The answer to that question is zero unless there are extenuating circumstances necessitating overtime in limited amounts of time. Even then, any time I've ever asked anyone to work overtime, I've made it up to them in time AND money. Well, money or food and drinks coupled with comp time to make up for the overtime they needed to work.
  16. That is likely the scenario, and that's why it's a shitty thing to do. Nobody should be forced to work so much overtime and CDPR isn't some scrappy developer that can't afford to give their employees a good work/life balance. They're the largest game developer/puboisher in Europe.
  17. Yeah, but if the counter to his report is just management at these shitty companies talking to amiable outlets willing to carry water for them, then it's shit journalism. Gaming journalism is a joke because it's nearly entirely based on the PR departments of private and publicly held corporations. The only reason these companies are as toxic as they are is because they've had decades of nobody calling them out for the shit they put their employees through and a willfully ignorant fan base. If his fans are creepy, what do you make of the weird nerds going wild defending the honor of an $8b company run by a guy worth hundreds of millions?
  18. Good. I remember reading this story a while back and thinking it made no sense. If they had just adopted some random kid, that random kid, according to the US, would have a greater claim to citizenship than their own child.
  19. You face up right before one if the best episodes in the series. Episode 6 was brilliant. I finally caught up with episode 8 and that was a great pulp horror time.
  20. I have no opinion here other than that I find this tweet HILARIOUS... A quarter of more than a decade in a profession, I guess, sounds cooler than saying a few years.
  21. A trailer and more... Not at all what I was expecting. Maybe I just didn't follow the need closely enough. Looks like a lot of fun, though.
  22. This is dumb because it simplifies the results of a COVID-19 infection to either dead or alive when there's a huge amount of gray area in between that we don't yet fully understand. We may very well end up with half of an entire generation with damaged lungs and asthma for the rest of their lives. This is ignoring any potential heart or kidney problems we could also be seeing.
