  1. My wife is vegan. I'll be cooking her a head of cauliflower glazed with the same sesame/soy/honey stuff I'm glazing the turkey with. I thought about going the seitan route but, honestly, a turkey alone is enough work and I might not be doing the big Thanksgiving dinner, I'm still going to be the leftover fairy. That and I'm experimenting with subbing the butter and cream in my mashed potatoes with vegan cultured butter and maybe a cashew-based sour cream. It...might work. Not sure. I've been getting better at coming up with vegan recipes for her over these fun, isolating months.
  2. Also glaze it. Don't be a lazy ass and simply baste it. Actually pull out a brush and paint every exposed inch with something tasty. I'm also not a fan of cooking a turkey whole. I'd spatchcock it first.
  3. It's because Democrats, as a whole, are stupid and refuse to call out lies as lies. This is very easy to counter. Anytime a Republican take about Venezuela or Cuba, the response should just be "That's stupid. Why are you lying to people? Even Trump admits he likes Denmark and they're who we're trying to learn from."
  4. Blah, my aunt has tested positive and is already symptomatic. I haven't seen her in quite some time, but my very asthmatic mother and my rather old grandmother just celebrated her birthday last week.
  5. Republicans literally ran on nothing with no actual plan and won close to 50% of the vote. Nothing matters, so you may as well go all in and try to get something done.
  6. What is going on there? Reports: Hostage situation underway at Ubisoft Montreal office WWW.POLYGON.COM Local news describes workers taking cover in conference rooms, police tactical units on scene
  7. Probably not, but if there were that's how it should be doled out. There likely won't be actual stimulus money, but red states are going to need money soon, especially with all the evictions coming and local hospitals being overrun.
  8. This is why Biden shouldn't implement a mandatory mask mandate or anything of that nature. He should, instead, create a program that states have to qualify to join in order to receive any federal relief money. The qualifications for the program should then be set by the CDC, directly, and still include some combination of a mask mandate, social distancing/indoor gathering restrictions. Labling it a program states can join would be more politically palatable than a broad mandate that everyone is just going to ignore. It also allows Biden to avoid states just giving COVID-19 money to big business or going back on his promise help every state regardless of who they voted for.
  9. In case anyone was wondering where this stood, seeing how today was the deadline... US government says it won’t enforce TikTok shutdown after court ruling WWW.THEVERGE.COM The Trump administration has argued that TikTok presents a security risk. This is mostly because TikTok has been unable to get a hold of anyone in the White House to officially approve their sale to Oracle or anything really... TikTok says the Trump administration has forgotten about trying to ban it, would like to know what’s up WWW.THEVERGE.COM The deadline to sell US assets expires this week So yeah, in all likelihood, Oracle isn't buying TikTok and Biden isn't likely going to go after them once he's sworn in. That's a bunch of companies throwing around hundreds of man-hours trying to put together a deal that went nowhere because Trump lost interest.
  10. Obama was naive. He thought that maybe all the racist, obstructionist bluster was just that and that behind closed doors things would be different. That's what gets folks to incredibly frustrated about Biden claims that he can work with Republicans. As it goes, at a certain point you just have to start believing people are who they say they are.
  11. They'd have to find a sympathetic judge to pull that off. I think they're plan was to assume that they could get away with it thanks to all the "loyal" judges appointed over the last four years. It just hasn't really worried out that way thus far. It would. Luckily the police across the country aren't complete Trump supporters willing to quell protests with sheer violence...
  12. Jokes on you. Half the states in this country already don't have penalties in place for faithless electors.
  13. Yeah, and in 2016 some electors voted for Bernie. They just shouldn't exist. I get that two hundred years ago you had to send a guy all the way to Congress to let them know how their state's election went, but that's just not necessary now.
  14. How about starting off by just getting rid of electors? That's zero reason for them to exist in modern times.
  15. I love Alton Brown. His YouTube videos while in quarantine have been great. His Twitter was actually pretty hilarious on election night. He had also totally lost in thanks to tons of booze and an air fryer.
  16. Correct. This is something that happened. Here's a fun question. Let's say Trump violates the presidential records act, so what? Who would punish him over it? Is there even a punishment in place? This country has so many worthless laws with no teeth.
  17. Here's my guess. As with everything Trump, he probably heard from some other Republicans or on Twitter or OANN or where ever that he could just be made president regardless of the end vote thanks to a combination of electors and the courts. While he clumsily tries to figure out a way to do that, Republicans are using this distraction to do things. What things? No idea. Folks are getting fired, McConnell and others are trying to keep Trump from torpedoing their chances in Georgia, and Nunes is doing what Nuneses do...probably try to cover his own ass because that's the only ass he really cares about. There seems to be a poorly conceived coup currently in progress that will likely fail due only to the Trump admin's sheer incompetence.
  18. Well, yes. There is that, but that was bound to happen. USBC-A cables didn't fully adhere to their standard and USB-C cables running at 2.0 aren't really at spec, there just cheap to make. Either way, I feel that pain. Also, don't get started with the fact that even a full speed USB-C 3.1 cable might but be able to handle 60w charging. I've made it a point that EVERY USB-C-USB-C cable in my house can handle 60w and higher and that every USB-C charger also offers up 60w or more. That means if you see a cable in my house, it'll charge a phone, laptop, Switch, or whatever. I just toss out anything else.
  19. That's kind of the point of USB4. It's supposed to bridge Thunderbolt 3 and USB4 under one standard without having to move to a new physical connector. Thunderbolt 4 is where it gets stupid.
  20. The assumption there will ever be any kind of transition is laughable. Even if Biden gets sworn in and Trump willingly peaces out to Mar-A-Lago, there's zero chance there will be any formal transition.
  21. Anyone remember this? Like I've said before. This country is run by retirement cases that are either evil, stupid, or both. Luckily, Trump is evil and stupid, but nothing will save us the next time just evil pops up because everyone else is just stupid. Nothing can survive on norms and unwritten rules. Just ask the MLB about their dying audience.
  22. In all fairness, the largest Christian churches in the country run by many of the most popular ministers in the nation are pretty much telling their congregations and viewers that Trump is pretty much elected by God to fulfill his mission for this country.
  23. Ha, tell me about it. I was on again/off again replying to @Chairslinger, finally got around to hitting post, and then refreshed the page to pizza fire.
