According to Blick, Bern has an order totalling $340 million with Washington for the PAC-3 variant of the missile.

U.S.-made missiles for the Patriot air defense system manufactured for Switzerland are to be delivered to Ukraine despite contractual obligations, the Swiss outlet Blick reported on June 19, citing undisclosed sources.

According to Blick, Bern has an order totaling $340 million with Washington for the PAC-3 variant of the missile.

Sources told the outlet that the U.S. has decided to delay delivery to Switzerland and send them instead to Ukraine, which is in dire need of the weapons to protect against Russian aerial attacks.

The PAC-3 missile is the most advanced used by the Patriot air defense system and is effective against ballistic missiles. Each missile costs $4.1 million.

Looks like the US has decided (likely with permission from the Swiss) to divert an order of approximately 83 Patriot missiles to Ukraine.

A "Spaceballs" sequel is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, a source close to production tells Variety. Josh Gad is set to star, and will produce alongside Mel Brooks.

Josh Greenbaum will direct the film from a screenplay by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Gad, while Kevin Salter will executive produce. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

No one is asking for this.

Previously, Brooks said that he wouldn't make it unless Rick Moranis came out of retirement. Maybe that's the case?

Rishi Sunak’s calamitous campaign continued this afternoon as a flock of sheep ran away from the Prime Minister as he attempted to feed them.

As someone on resetera aptly said, those sheep recognize predators when they see them!

  5. Dropout TV is 100% worth it. Game Changer is one of the best "game shows" on any service, simply because each episode has entirely different rules, usually designed to trick the people playing. And because everyone is a comedian/writer, it's always funny.

Lots of other great shows as well. Breaking News is a personal favourite—they run a fake news broadcast where the goal is to not laugh...so of course whoever wrote it has made it as dumb as possible (think Onion News Network x 100).

I highly recommend this streaming service, give it a try!

More than 40 people are alleged to have died as a result of Greek coastguard actions, BBC analysis reveals.

    Quote

The Greek coastguard has caused the deaths of dozens of migrants in the Mediterranean over a three-year period, witnesses say, including nine who were deliberately thrown into the water.

The nine are among more than 40 people alleged to have died as a result of being forced out of Greek territorial waters, or taken back out to sea after reaching Greek islands, BBC analysis has found.

    Quote

The Greek coastguard told our investigation it strongly rejects all accusations of illegal activities.

We showed footage of 12 people being loaded into a Greek coastguard boat, and then abandoned on a dinghy, to a former senior Greek coastguard officer. When he got up from his chair, and with his mic still on, he said it was "obviously illegal" and "an international crime".

lol. To be fair, I don't mock any place for issues with temperature! My city deals with giant annual swings in temp, from -40C to +40C (-40F to 104F), so I know how hard temperature swings can be on pretty much all aspects of society. And when you're used to a regular swing and get an extreme, it can cause chaos. A good example in the opposite direction is when people were dying in Texas at low temperatures that would be considered a nice autumn in other places. Humans aren't good at preparing for and dealing with unusual weather.

  8. A few things people should consider:

    • The human body can get used to higher or lower temperatures, but it takes up to 7 days. So if it jumps to a higher temp than you are used to quickly, you can suffer much worse than if you've already slowly escalated to that temperature over time
    • Most buildings don't have AC in these places
    • Most buildings are designed to retain heat in these places

  9. Putin has just proposed a new "peace" deal:

    • Ukraine ends the war (they are the aggressor)
    • Ukraine pulls all forces back out of their Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts
      • Russia promises to not invade those areas
    • Ukraine will not join NATO
      • Russia promises to not attack more
    • The west will drop all sanctions on Russia
    • Russia will keep all the land they control
      • They promise not to take the land that Ukraine withdraws from

    Totally reasonable!

The U.S. military launched a clandestine program amid the COVID crisis to discredit China’s Sinovac inoculation – payback for Beijing’s efforts to blame Washington for the pandemic. One target: the Filipino public. Health experts say the gambit was indefensible and put innocent lives at risk.

The Pentagon didn't like how China blamed the US for some of the pandemic, so they purposefully targeted a place (Philippines) that was using China's vaccine, trying to convince the public to not get vaccinated. Also targeted face masks:

    Quote

The clandestine operation has not been previously reported. It aimed to sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines and other life-saving aid that was being supplied by China, a Reuters investigation found. Through phony internet accounts meant to impersonate Filipinos, the military’s propaganda efforts morphed into an anti-vax campaign. Social media posts decried the quality of face masks, test kits and the first vaccine that would become available in the Philippines – China’s Sinovac inoculation.

Also targeted Muslims in other countries in the Middle-East and south Asia:

    Quote

The U.S. military’s anti-vax effort began in the spring of 2020 and expanded beyond Southeast Asia before it was terminated in mid-2021, Reuters determined. Tailoring the propaganda campaign to local audiences across Central Asia and the Middle East, the Pentagon used a combination of fake social media accounts on multiple platforms to spread fear of China’s vaccines among Muslims at a time when the virus was killing tens of thousands of people each day. A key part of the strategy: amplify the disputed contention that, because vaccines sometimes contain pork gelatin, China’s shots could be considered forbidden under Islamic law.

  11. In a clearly transparent case of cooking the books, the US has just "discovered" that previously-supplied weapons were "overvalued" by $1.9 billion:

    8H7eQXu.png

This effectively means that the US can supply an additional $1.9 billion in weapons without costing it anything, or counting towards the approved limit from Congress. Strange how this has happened multiple times. lol
