Today I learned this is indeed the rule in Japan!
My province has the highest rates of drunk driving in Canada. In fact, our premier was arrested for a DUI when he was younger, and on a separate occasion killed someone in a highway accident. However he did not take a breathalyzer for that one, so he didn't officially kill anyone while drunk.
I don't even drink at all (never have, for any particular reason), but many people here consider me strange for it. Bumfuck Hicksville of Canada!

Bro there's almost 0 chance I even read an unsolicited text, let alone respond to it.
Unfortunately for my job, I need to order a lot of things, and I use my personal phone for receiving shipping notifications (plan is covered by my work). So I unfortunately need to read every single fake shipping instruction and search the tracking number (in a browser) to see if it's legit. Most times they aren't.

IMO, if you have any alcohol, you should not drive.

If there were a campaign equivalent of criminal neglect one rally for the whole week in a Red +20 state that represents 3 Electoral Votes seems like it would qualify
I would say Trump should have his campaign staff shoved out an airlock but we all know nothing dumb happens in that camp that Trump isn't at least 95% responsible for....
Hey, Montana is now worth 4 electoral votes!

Good. What are the potential consequences? If it's just a bunch of fines, then nothing will change.

NASA likely to significantly delay the launch of Crew 9 due to Starliner issues
ARSTECHNICA.COM
The primary reason for the delay is rather surprising. So apparently one of the big issues is that the capsule that is currently docked to the ISS is not able to be undocked remotely, and instead requires manual undocking by a human inside it. So they can't undock it and let it burn on entry.

Some journalists on Twitter saying Harris has made her decision and the person has accepted. If true, I'd expect to see SS deployed tonight and give it away.

His biggest liability is that he has the slick haircut and general style of a used car salesman. But he is a very good speaker and likely gives a bump in PA. Will he be a drag on some young progressives? Yes, but I think that can be dealt with with some immediate and strong statements. Like Wade said, the harder thing is the SA that occured in his office, and was "covered up" (settled).

General Election Poll
Harris 48% (+4) Trump 44%
Last poll - Harris +1
Morning Consult #C - 11,265 RV - 8/4
Huge sample size, though not the best pollster.

Lol Kelly's team tweeted out earlier today that he's ready to serve Arizonans, now (implying that he was not the pick). Then they deleted it. Now he's tweeted saying that when your nation calls for you to serve, you say yes.
Lol, just trolling.

There's a very real chance that a single swing state will stop the count or some other shenanigans and swing the election. The question is what happens in that scenario.

I think the "safest" choices (in the sense that they wouldn't detract anything from her) are Beshear or Kelly. So it would be Beshear, if she wants a Governor. However, I think Walz is still very much in it.

I really hope it's Walz. Not a lawyer, went to a state college, and was a teacher.

Harris seems to have a significant ground game edge over Trump at the moment:

Fox's new attack points on Harris appear to be:
- she has no experience
- she is the "hugger-in-chief" (she hugs people at rallies, etc)

Jesus
The anthem version is very old-timey (with military sounding, male choir) that starts with "Ladies and gentlemen, please rise for the horribly and unfairly treated January 6th hostages." Ominous synth/bass sounds are overlaid on the anthem.

I think there is a risk (thanks to the media, which is already falling for it) that Trump will do a debate vs. an empty podium on Fox, and that will be used against her.

I haven’t read a single story that explains what Shapiro did wrong.
He didn't have to do anything wrong—the fact that his office "paid" to "coverup" (settle) an SA allegation is very easy to make into soundbites and sell.- 1

The things I really, really hope they include:
- Make vertical civilizations more appealing
- Make peaceful plays more appealing
- Make the end-game not as tedious
-
The media is starting to pick up a few stories about Shapiro's past (notably the sexual assault/harassment settlement within his office, as well as past comments on the Middle-East). I really hope it's not him.

On the one hand, I don't want my RRSPs and TFSAs to drop, since they've grown quite a bit in the last year. On the other, my mortgage (currently 1.29%) renews in April 2026, so I need those rates to drop!
