  1. My original comment had a line about unintended consequences which I removed. I agree that this could be a real issue. Legislation would have to be carefully crafted. Overall I agree with what some others have said that the issue is firearms. Ask your local trauma canter hospital what they think of firearms.
  2. I've heard the same thing but haven't looked in depth. If businesses that are destroyed by rioters were covered by insurance, it seems like it could solve some problems.
  3. I've been tuning out a lot of things, including this trial so I can't give an informed opinion on the verdict. My question to those that are following it, will this lead to unrest/riots?
  4. Bloomberg - Are you a robot? WWW.BLOOMBERG.COM Bloomberg has a pretty positive review up. The reviews are high enough to not sink the show before it gets out the gate which gives it a fighting chance to get some viewership.
  5. After skimming through some reviews, it seems like a common theme is pacing issues. It seems rushed in many respects. It may have needed 10 or even 12 episode seasons. I guess I'll see what I think later this week! Edit: Other common themes, mediocre to poor CGI but decent practical effects.

  8. Inflation is primarily being caused by consumers buying more goods than services because of the pandemic. We have been told this is transitory, but it’s not unless that means 2-5 years. Inflation will be here with us until we scale up our ports and fill job positions related to logistics. The transitory conventional wisdom is probably wrong, or maybe I am.
  9. I'm skeptical but excited about this and Wheel of Time for November. This one seems like it's a show that will either be awesome or completely fail with a lot in between. If they get the tone wrong, it's done. The videos make me more hopeful than I was before.
  10. US equities have largely increased because of multiple expansion rather than earnings. In other words price has been going up quicker than earnings. US dividends being lower than Int is a symptom of this. Keep in mind that we are all investing for the long run. International has had a shitty decade. It hasn’t been good in my portfolio either. But US would have returned almost nothing (a bit over 1%) from 2000-2010 while international outperformed. That wasn’t that long ago. Beware of recency bias and chasing hot performing markets. What happens going forward is anyone’s guess. I prefer more diversification, but pick what you can stick with.
  11. Are you purchasing the whole U.S. stock market (VTI) or Total World Stock Market (VT)? I ask because I think there is a good argument that the U.S. stock market is frothy. I've been more comfortable purchasing VT in my tax advantaged accounts and VTI and VXUS in my taxable which exposes me to international equity markets which I believe are more reasonably valued (up for debate), but at least it's more diversified. Always keep in mind that an index fund like VTI crashed 80% during the great depression. Japan's stock market still hasn't fully recovered from the crash in the 80s. We aren't at those valuations right now in the U.S., so it's not the same thing, but it's good to keep things in perspective. Once you toss money into an index fund, you should not plan on having to take it out for at least 10-20 years. I also have been purchasing value/factor funds from Avantis (AVUV, AVDV, AVES) since I believe they're just a better buy right now and factor funds have greater expected returns going forward, but it adds complexity to a portfolio which may not be desirable for a variety of reasons and of course there are no guarantees.
  12. Republican John Lujan wins special election runoff to flip Texas Hous… WWW.TEXASTRIBUNE.ORG Republicans saw flipping the seat as a way to make headway into South Texas, where Democrat Joe Biden underperformed last year. Republicans flipped a state rep seat in a mostly Hispanic district in San Antonio. It will likely go back Democrat during the general (maybe?), but this is really disappointing. I don't see Texas going blue for a very long time.
  13. I plan to watch it eventually. Apple TV isn’t one of my static subscriptions, so I will subscribe eventually for a month or two and binge the best shows. I’m looking forward to it.
  14. What's odd about it is that is far more radical than raising the corporate tax to 25%.
  15. Also keep in mind that people can qualify now based on a much broader range of industries that they may work in. That's how I got mine: Examples of workers who may get Pfizer-BioNTech booster[ 1 ] shots First responders (e.g., healthcare workers, firefighters, police, congregate care staff) Education staff (e.g., teachers, support staff, daycare workers) Food and agriculture workers Manufacturing workers Corrections workers U.S. Postal Service workers Public transit workers Grocery store workers 1 List could be updated in the future COVID-19 Vaccination WWW.CDC.GOV COVID-19 vaccines protect against COVID-19. 16. I got my third Pfizer on Tuesday. This is the first time I had notable side effects besides some mild pain at injection. I had a mild headache/body aches, a bit of congestion, and moderate fatigue. I'm 90% better today. I didn't miss any work. It was well worth it. I got my shot precisely 6 months after my last dose.
  17. I would bet that Delta isn’t different enough to make their vaccine irrelevant. We have seen that with other vaccines which are still highly effective against it. The drop in efficacy we are seeing is a combination of factors, but so far no one has had to change formulations to my knowledge (I’m open to correction).
  18. ‘They rushed the process’: Vaccine maker’s woes hamper global inoculation campaign - POLITICO WWW.POLITICO.COM The U.S. and the world made a huge bet on Novavax, but manufacturing problems are jeopardizing billions of doses earmarked for poor and middle-income countries. This is really bad news if it is true. They are denying it in a follow up earlier today and say they are on track. The Novavax vaccine is what poorer nations are depending on since it is highly effective and doesn't have temperature requirements like mRNA vaccines. Novavax expresses fresh confidence in its vaccine - POLITICO WWW.POLITICO.COM In wake of report on manufacturing difficulties, the Maryland-based drug firm vowed to file for emergency-use authorization by the end of the year.
  19. It doesn't seem like anything has really changed since Senator Manchin said he wouldn't go above 1.5 trillion dollars. I skip all the outrage tweets and I'm in better mental health because of it. I'm most disappointed that the climate provisions are being gutted. A carbon tax is even supported by some oil companies.
  20. Some of these are older than the last year but this is what I could come up with right now. Dark Castlevania Anne with an E Ozark Sweet Home- South Korean Horror Medical Police The Witcher Nightmare of the White Wolf
