Television Better Call Saul - The Final & 6th Season
SoberChef replied to SoberChef's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
I, nearly a day later, am still at a complete loss for words. That scene on the train, just brought to bear every single thing that we as an audience have bore witness to. Our love for Jimmy/Saul/ ... ok maybe not so much Gene, as well as our admiration for Kim, has led us all to that moment. We have time to take inventory for all that has transpired, and really condemn ourselves for following along in their journey. Our complicity & silent agreement to indulge in these shenanigans have wrought so much awfulness on all those around them & in the end, to themselves as well. At least that's how I kind of felt & took it in that moment & where my mind took me as I sat, silently weeping the enormity of the moment & realization that we are right at the end. Vince, you goddamn genius. -

Multiple Victims of a Senseless Accident in Downtown L.A.
SoberChef replied to SoberChef's topic in The Shower
I just want the investigators to figure out exactly WHY this woman, Nicole Linton, did this or how in the hell it happened. Looking on google maps street view, the "hill" that's there is barely much of anything, so attaining a rate of speed due to steep decline doesn't quite seem up to snuff to me. -

YO!!! Did he sever his fucking spinal column!? Like for real, IDGAF! We were all taught in kindergarten that if it doesn't belong to you, DO NOT FUCKING TOUCH IT! Deserved to get got like that, good for that store owner.

Electric battery exploded? IDK!? That type of accident is something you'd expect to see in a Michael Bay flick, not IRL! -

Just started humming a tune and it hit me like a ton of bricks, fucking Jonas Brothers "Only Human" like WHY am I vibing on that tune (it's that Hispanic beat, its entrancing what can I say?) Anywho, figured why not have others share their mutual love/hatred of a song, seems like a fun topic of discussion right?

Hell, I'd say he hasn't even really aged since '28 Days Later' I have (unfortunately) never seen 'In Bruges', yet its one of those films I hear about constantly. Need to rectify that I think. As for 'Seven Psychopaths', that is one HELL of a freaking film for sure, wasn't aware that 'Three Billboards...' was also a McDonagh film, intriguing.

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN follows lifelong friends Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Pádraic, aided by his sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer. But Pádraic's repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences.

As a fellow fur baby owner & lover of all things in the animal kingdom (except you arachnids, go fuck yourself!) I feel your sorrow & pain & heart being broken. Hugs all around for you, your younger pup who's also suffering & depressed, as well as your family. All the best, love, & well wishes going your way. Nothing strikes closer than the loss of a pet, know that my thoughts & well wishes are with you at this awful time.

Podcasts ~*The Podcasts of D1P*~
SoberChef replied to Commissar SFLUFAN's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Was thinking we should maybe have this pinned at the top alongside the "What are you watching?" & "What are you listening to?" threads perhaps? Considering how prevalent podcasts are now (I believe I recently heard something to the effect of there being over 4 MILLION podcasts available). That said, also just wanted to share this episode of the ReelBlend Podcast w/ Quentin & Roger Avery -

So this whole thread is a shit show of awful news. Browsing through, a few thoughts: Call me batshit crazy but the streaming service bubble is about to burst & we are going to see massive fallout reverberating throughout the entire film environment. Discovery/Discovery+ even having enough capital in the first place in which to buy out HBO from ATT still has me reeling. How have they been able to be that profitable!? How are you going to snap up an entity in which it has been entirely built on QUALITY above all else since the early days and yet think "Nah, gonna change everything about it!"? Going to guess that the chances of "Tales From the Crypt" FINALLY coming back to HBO/HBOMax won't be a thing then and that wicked freaking sucks ass! If they separate DC from everything else & either license it out or sell it outright, that does NOT sound good for the brand of all things DC in my opinion.

Movies Jordan Peele’s next movie: Nope (7/22/22)
SoberChef replied to Brian's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
So finally saw this on Monday and allowed myself time to sit with it. Between 'Get Out', 'Us', & this, the former two rank far higher than this. I don't know if I got sucked into the proverbial hype train or what, but I was astonishingly let down by how subpar it all felt. Definitely kept waiting for 'the moment' which never came to pass. Something to sort of make it all click together & coalesce into shape & form yet, begrudgingly even is how it felt to me, it never was even interested in showing the cards it was dealing to us.
