  1. His inability to do as much as he should have depressed democratic voter turnout amongst progressives. Sure, Hillary Clinton was the worst candidate in history, but who set the stage for her? I think we can't just ignore the stage Obama set either. He could have been stronger and more progressive, like he had originally promised in 2008. He was completely ineffective in neutralizing Donald Trump while he was President and knew about election tampering. He is responsible, in part.
  2. When you said "these people" at the beginning of the post I quoted I thought you meant Republican politicians, who just don't care, not their base, who I agree with you, are stupid and being deliberately mislead and believing it all genuinely.
  3. His base doesn't believe in climate change, but far right politicians certainly know it's real. They've seen the data (which is overwhelming, as you know). They just don't care, because they love that donor money (oil, etc.) and they'll lie and play dumb to keep it that way.
  4. No, actually, there's proof to show that Trump was in direct response to Obama and I'd argue Obama's handling of the 2016 presidential election was grossly negligent regardless of McTurtle trying to block him. His pushing for Hillary Clinton, his inability to keep his party honest, being bought by CitiBank and other Wall Street corporations. I like Obama a good bit actually, but I absolutely think he teed up the country (in part) to vote Trump in 2016, not intentionally, but negligently. Had he pushed a more Bernie Sanders-type progressive agenda in his 8 years, I guarantee that Trump would not have won in 2016.
  5. If he cared so much maybe he shouldn't have been a corporatist centrist Democrat who negotiated like a moderate Republican when he was the President of the United States of America for eight fuckin' years. Also, Obama is, in part, responsible for Trump, and it's because he wasn't nearly progressive enough.
  6. Not any more meddlesome in Russian elections than Putin himself is, which is why anyone saying that is an idiot (the tweeter, not you heh).
  7. Oh well yeah but not the entire movie, and even then it really isn't bad. Not any more dated than Jurassic Park, is what I'm saying.
  8. I dunno if I agree. M:I plays like a great 1970's John Le Carre-lite spy thriller. On bluray I thought the film looked and sounded fine. Both show their age similarly I feel.
  9. And here I thought it was because of all of the scotch I'd been drinking perpetually since election night. This makes more sense.
  10. First thing my mind went to as well - except he's taking the side of Putin over the American people. Not sure how that isn't obvious to every American.
  11. I'm not opposed to the idea Musk is saying here, but surely you can see that he doesn't really seem to have any sort of compass on this right?
  12. Except he's denying it. And also pushes himself as some sort of progressive. My issue isn't the honesty it takes to deal with politics (pay everyone), but how sleazy and disingenuous he is about it I suppose.
  13. My issue isn't playing both sides, my issues is being dishonest in his own political messaging. And just because "other rich guys" do it doesn't mean it's okay he does (not saying you're saying that, I'm speaking generally).
  14. Anyone who is genuinely surprised by this is at this point is either 1) mentally deficient or 2) willfuly dense or 3) a traitor to the interests and values of the United States of America. Or all 3, as is the case is with his 40% unshakeable base.
