What the fuck is a "shrill" feminist? Is that a feminist that bothers to fight for gender parity? Hot damn. And while I agree that as much as I love Warren, she's not a great Democratic presidential candidate in terms of winning. However, I don't think Warren "wants to tell working class men they are wrong about everything". That's ridiculous. That may be the perception of her, but this commenter is presenting it as a basic fact. The whole comment is extremely stupid and poorly worded.

Just remember that it's important that we win every race, not just the big ones, as it's clear even at the local level Republicans have taken over, and not in a good way. So while you may lose some big ones you may still snag smaller seats if everyone who thinks they'll lose with the big ones votes anyway to win the small ones.

The Official "I Voted" Thread - GO VOTE
Greatoneshere replied to Greatoneshere's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
Thanks to everyone for posting that they have or will soon be voting! Glad so many are taking advantage of early voting, mail-in ballot, and absentee ballot. It's really important we actually make sure we vote, actually check those boxes, etc. I don't care who you vote for. Keep 'em coming - even lurkers need to come out and post. Or you will be judged. I'm in PA as well, you are correct, and it sucks. I will be there on voting day though! I love wasting my vote as well! I do honestly get what you mean, depending on your state/district and how one is voting. However, perhaps if enough of us get together and vote the same . . . -
Now that I'm seeing people like @Nokra and @CayceG do their civic duty I think a thread to state so and so voted would be nice and encourage people to vote (and remind people to vote!). Thanks guys for voting - I'll be voting on Tuesday myself. I expect as many board members as possible to vote and then come here to say they voted to be counted. If you don't post here, I will presume you didn't vote and then shame on you.

Movies Aladdin (2019) Teaser Trailer
Greatoneshere replied to Pikachu's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Cinderella and The Jungle Book are still the best ways to do a live-action adaptation of an animated Disney film. Beauty and the Beast was good but felt entirely unnecessary and pointless compared to Cinderella and The Jungle Book. Alice in Wonderland/Alice Through the Looking Glass and Maleficent are too different from their animated counterparts to compare. -
Great movie. Just to be clear, Upgrade was written and directed by the guy who wrote (but did not direct) Saw 1, Leigh Whannell (whose written plenty of things but only previously directed Insidious 3). Saw 1 was directed by James Wan, who has gone on to direct movies like Dead Silence, Death Sentence, Insidious 1 + 2, The Conjuring 1 + 2, Furious 7, and the upcoming Aquaman.

Movies Aladdin (2019) Teaser Trailer
Greatoneshere replied to Pikachu's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
You'd think it's weird, but Aladdin has a lot of thieving and street urchin living in it, which Guy Ritchie excels at (he just did it in the underrated King Arthur as well as Sherlock Holmes). I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan, and as a first generation American-Pakistani, I really want this movie to be good and do well (I'm also a fan of the original). It was nice hearing the re-worked song in the teaser. It won't be, but I hope this is Middle Easterners/South Asians' Black Panther/Crazy Rich Asians in some ways. -
Movies Glass - Official Trailer #2

Definitely looking good. I look forward to it - Split was a lot of fun. -
There was nothing to get out in front of, arguably. James Gunn may be hired by WB soon - and no one cares. Disney should have waited until at least all the information was out about how Gunn was targeted before making a decision. I'm not defending Gunn, I just think it's BS to suggest Disney couldn't have just weathered it for a few days at least.

Given that my post was directed specifically at @Mercury33, I would not say you are being flippant, no, which is why I never said you were. Why you'd think I'd be referring to you in a post that quotes only @Mercury33 and is in direct response to only him even involves or includes you is beyond me. But I didn't mean you, I don't think you're being flippant. I do think people are being optimistic that Guardians 3 will be as good as James Gunn's trilogy-capper would have been. Unless they use his script, then maybe. And I don't like the circumstances under which Gunn was fired. But it's happened and we have to move on now. I hope its good.

Oh! Well then . . . "In 2016, Cavill's girlfriend, Tara King, was 13 years younger than him—and she couldn't even drink legally stateside! When asked about his barely legal love, he explained to Elle, "People say age is just a number. It's actually real and true sign of someone's maturity. But in this case, she's fantastic. When I met my girlfriend, I was super intimidated. I wanted to impress her." He was even nervous about the whole ordeal, saying "I was thinking, 'Don't mess this up, man.'" That's one small factoid - you can find more of them if you search the internets. I don't think it's a big deal, and it's speculation on my part, but it's possible in terms of casting. I like to think: "don't mess this up man" is code for: "make sure she's 18 man".
