  1. Not all conservatives are this stupid. And there are facts, arguments, anecdotes, etc that don't perfectly align with liberal thought. That's precisely why they should be brought up. Views should be challenged and checked so that better decisions can be made. Or at least, made in light of details that one side may be brushing off. Don't want to derail this any further, but I think we still agree more than we don't here. Politics today suck.
  2. I absolutely won't argue these points. There's plenty of horribly bigoted conservative views throughout history, and many that do continue into the present in both obvious and subtle ways. Where I won't budge is that present day issues need to be met with better arguments than 'historically these people's views suck.' It's not bothsidesism to point out how polarization has shaped discourse, IMO.
  3. Meanwhile in conservative echo chambers: Generally speaking, we're in a political environment today where the other is outright dismissed. It's probably making us all dumber, and pushing impressionable people further down rabbit holes.
  4. This isn’t from Garvin’s studio (Liithos). It’s a Chinese project by “Legendary Star Studio” funded by Netease, that shares the same title.
  5. Maybe we just think of complexity as a different. When I think of complex music I think about Ligeti, Rzewski, Sorabji, Messiaen, etc. Basically modernist classical. I don’t think most video games today have music that’s so complex to parse by comparison. On second thought, maybe Twilight Princess can go there at times… but it’s still far from the norm. I still think it’s more the adaptive soundtrack thing. Which to be fair, is something gaming can do really well as a medium.
  6. It's just a case of music being used differently in BoTW/TotK IMO. The more adaptive a game's soundtrack is, the less melodies will loop in a way that sticks in your head. TP doesn't have as much of a sense of place to its music due to the Twilight Realm being so prevalent. But there are some tracks that can place you in a moment, such as when Midna gets sick. I think SS's soundtrack might be one of the series' best. There's plenty to distinguish between areas and dungeons (like the Sky overworld). But also, the main theme is just stupidly catchy.
  7. Save 100% on Metro: Last Light Complete Edition on Steam STORE.STEAMPOWERED.COM It Is the Year 2034.Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.
  8. No one posted yet about the Sony show on the 24th? Maybe I missed it posted here.
  9. Wind Waker already did this, kinda sorta. Beetle item in SS as well.
  10. I don’t think I could ever replay BotW. To big, too redundant. Shrines and Divine Beasts aren’t memorable enough for me to want to relive it. But this, I don’t know yet. Like if there’s nutty things you can build to cheat it more, that could make another playthrough interesting after I don’t feel spoiled by it.
  11. That’s how I feel with the ascend ability more than anything. Also the crazy ways recall and ultrahand can work together. Its BotW’s bones, but still… I’m going to forget all about that game’s runes after this. It’s a better designed video game.
  12. Not really. Same basic set up, but OoT is much more directed. Plus lttp’s overworld is more of a game than a walking sim.
  13. This thread feels premature, tbh. I haven’t seen enough of ToTK to know what else it needs to give me.
  14. Depends if/when sales of Switch consoles outpace ToTK. BoTW had a whole console generation for the ratio to be padded out. Probably better just to pay attention to the total number than the attach ratio at this point.
  15. First 3 days. Its also rare for games to have a huge attach ratio late in the life cycle of a system. Zelda's also don't sell as spectacularly near the end of a console (Majora, Skyward Sword), so this is a good sign.
  16. So I'll describe this in the least spoilery way possible: Found an item in a cave that I wanted to bring out of it. Accidentally destroyed the items I was 'supposed' to use. So I built a 4 fan platform from my device pods, shot it up at just the right angle to get it out. Super gratifying. I'm sure there's many more solutions. This game is amazing.
  17. Its like discussing FF7 or OoT at this point. I'll refrain and spoiler tag. But you really should get on that.
  18. I remember FF6's character development a lot better than FF9, and I played 9 for the first time 2 years ago. And it's more than just those three or four you mentioned. For Bacon to avoid: In any case FF9's cast didn't appeal to me outside of Steiner. Zidane in particular is immature and annoying the entire way. Late game backstory couldn't save him for me. And the way the game handwaves his father's abuse would have been better left on the cutting room floor.
