  1. No, 720p target with dynamic resolution dips. I would much rather see visual features stripped out than slapping FSR 2 Pefromance or Balanced on a game and calling it a day. It's more work for developers. But not doing it is how the Series S gets to junk status fastest.
  2. So that's how they get to claim 1440p on Series S. 1440p upscaled from what? I want console developers to be more transparent about how exactly they're using FSR2.
  3. FTC's expert: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cand.413969/gov.uscourts.cand.413969.224.0.pdf This stood out to me. I think it's probably most reasonable for Microsoft to double down on Battle Passes with CoD, with a big new release every 2-3 years. That would free up much of their support studios to work on exclusive projects and round out Games Pass' release schedule. An independent Activision doesn't need to support a console, so it makes sense to just ride the gravy train they've set up currently. On one hand, I'd love to see Activision pull away from CoD somewhat. On the other, Microsoft will leverage what they can to force the market in their direction with their wallet.
  4. Virtual Fighter 6, read between the lines! What if Nintendo buys them so we get a new Samba de Amigo? It’s our best shot.
  5. That comment also puts the 10 CoD year thing in it’s proper context. They don’t care as much about the here and now. They care more about the long term trajectory of their subscription library vs any competitor’s. Maybe in 10 years, almost no one buys games anymore, and CoD is mostly a subscription driver.
  6. Just like when Nintendo buys SquareEnix we’ll finally get that Super Mario RPG remake we’ve always wanted. Don’t forget, Beyond Good & Evil 2 might actually release if Ubisoft gets bought by Sony. It should happen.
  7. With some franchises that might not matter so much. But with CoD, being “Next-Gen Exclusive” even for a time is a huge deal. Probably not as big as being on Games Pass and not PS+ Extra/Premium, granted.
  8. I’d like to think it too, but I know not to expect it. Maybe if FSR 2.0 wasn’t a thing. As it stands, console devs are already using it too much as a crutch, to questionable result with low input resolutions. It’s the same struggle that Series S will have more and more of. It’s only going to compound on portable hardware.
  9. I know. I don’t expect any better from Nintendo. People said the same about the Switch, and it still got several miracle ports. Even if those are only worth a damn in handheld mode.
  10. I’m expecting slightly worse than Steam Deck spec on paper, but better IQ possibly from DLSS, which might let it take punch above it’s weight class in some games. It’ll still struggle with current gen AAA games more than Series S.
  11. If the Deck can’t get there, I’m doubtful Nintendo will. What I will hope for is for DLSS2 to clean things up a little, at whatever a reasonable target is for its spec. Portable mode IQ should be a big step up at least.
  12. Where did this come from? DLSS3 has to target VRR screens and hit ~80fps to be reasonable. If DLSS 3.2 (or something) or FSR 3 (big if) can improve on that and make 60fps viable, then we're talking. But that could still be one expensive handheld with poor battery life.
  13. So many of the puzzles, secrets and jumping challenges are derived from the isometric perspective. It’d lose something in translation. Besides, when’s the last time you played an isometric RPG? This is definitely a game I feel should be kept largely the same, structurally, as a remake.
  14. I’m sure they would after launch. There’s incentives for them to do it. We didn’t hear anything from Microsoft to say PS5 kits were still being withheld today. Phil was very cautious about that when asked about Minecraft on PS5. There’s another wrinkle here: Bungie. Think they’ll get Xbox Next kits early? We could be moving to a point where these aquired multi-platform studios can’t launch simultaneously if too close to a hardware launch. That might even include mid-gen machines. Even Nintendo could be dealing with this. They also tend to hold things close to the chest in the beginning. Then again, they did sign that CoD deal.
  15. I don‘t blame him for it. Trade secrets in exchange for next-gen CoD at launch is still a rough bargain any way you slice it. Gotta wonder what Microsoft would be willing to do for MLB though. I can’t imagine that sending out early Xbox Next dev kits for that to Sony is worth it.
  16. Pikmin 2 is the best. Pikmin 3 is alright, but felt like too much micromanagement by the end IMO.
  17. This comment may not age well after Starfield. It's already bunk on some level after Psyconauts 2, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, etc.
