  1. A comment in the link I posted above suggested that EA games are among those most likely to be revoked. According to EA themselves, they don't sell to CD Keys: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/where-to-buy-ea-games-v2/ So their keys definitely aren't being bought in bulk from EA. Could surmise the same from the others you mentioned.
  2. My understanding is that they source their keys in the cheapest way possible, basically sourcing keys from cheaper regions. Perhaps bundles as well? Like you say, its grey market, not black. It's rare, but you can find examples of their keys being revoked.
  3. Which ones? Serious question. I trust you know the answer because they're so transparent about it.

  5. CD Keys isn't an authorized reseller, meaning they have no relationship with publishers. You're probably fine to use it, but it's technically grey market. I tend to stick with Humble Bundle, Fanatical and GMG when I'm buying keys outside of Steam itself. Those are the big 3 that do work with publishers directly. Anything listed on isthereanydeal.com or r/gamedeals is probably okay. Speaking of which, Humble Choice is a huge boon for building a Steam library of solid stuff. There's easy ways to game their system to get it cheaper than the listed $12 a month. But even if you don't, its worth it maybe half the time, and they make pausing a month fairly painless when you don't like the selections.
  6. Been a while since I posted one of these. Black Friday pickups were Jedi Survivor ($17) and Crisis Core ($30), the November Humble Bundle ($6) and a preorder of FF7 Rebirth + Intergrade ($63) not pictured bought with gift card discount. As for the rest, I spent another $7 on Lost in Random and Castle of Illusion.
  7. Mario RPG is sort of Porto FF7 with some mini games worked into the plot. It’s also hit or miss like that game. On the positive, there’s much more variety there than the Paper Mario games.
  8. Humble Choice has a 2 month for $6 each deal in an emailer. The current bundle might be worth it depending on your tastes (Prodeus, Unpacking, Souldiers, Legend of Tianding, etc).
  9. Not finished with the last game I won here, so I’ll be opting out. Good luck everyone!

  11. Just read that Gamespot upped the minimum for $5 off pick-up orders from $15 to $40. I snuck that Jedi Survivor purchase in just in time.
  12. Ended up getting Jedi Survivor. GameStop Pro discount (last month), their $5 off promo for pick up, and another $5 in left over trade-in credit brought it down to $15 for me.
  13. It’s partly the aesthetic. Both go for this medieval European setting with real time fantasy combat. DD2 would obviously be a more apt comparison to make once it’s out, and I hope it’ll make some positive changes. It’s also the way this board talks about FF16 here that feels like piling on. I’m finding it to be a fun video game with lavish production values that absolutely live up to the franchise. Shitting on its combat feels like more to do with mismanaged expectations of what FF should be than any glaring mechanical fault with it. Maybe some people want Ninja Gaiden difficulty from their action RPGs, but I’m fine with some moderate pushback in the campaign bosses and the real challenge being the super bosses… like any turn based FF. Even criticisms of its quest design could be applied to modern games at large today, and there’s so many that space them out worse. The most unnerving thing about FFXVI to me for its budget continues to be the lip sync, and even that’s offset by the excellent VO to some degree. If the brand wasn’t attached, I don’t think it would be as poor regarded here. There’d be more openness to look past its faults, the positives outweighing the negatives. Which is a courtesy that has been extended here to Dragon’s Dogma, no doubt. To me, those are the two extremes, which is why I bring it up.
  14. Found that aspect of it super janky. I hope the sequel improves on the look of it at least.
  15. How far did you make it? Right bumper is a parry/dodge, which you do a lot of, but it doesn’t exactly kill things of its own accord. I just got done with the first S rank monster. Not super hard, but did put up a fight. DD’s combat didn’t strike me as anything too special, but granted I only put 10 hours into it. That’s when I called it quits after realizing it was just no fun for me.
  16. I didn’t pay for it since I won it in a giveaway here, but put me in the defender camp. I went into it with basically no expectations and have really enjoyed it so far. If it didn’t have the Final Fantasy name attached, I think people would be all over it as a sleeper hit. I’m finding it a much more engaging game than Dragon’s Domga, which felt like a hollow shell IMO. This has a fun combat system and more engaging plot. It’s not hard, but the super bosses are there if you want a bit more challenge. It could also be the timing for me. I just visited England and went to some countryside castles and villages, so the vibe coming close to that is great. I’m playing it in hour spurts each night, so I appreciate just getting to the action and not fiddling with too many RPG systems. And linear is A-Ok with me after coming off ToTK. There’s definitely parts of the game that could be better, but as a $30-40 Black Friday purchase, I think it’s ace based on what I played so far. (3 crystals down). Just a fun game to pop in and out of for me. Probably not as fun if you binge it.
  17. That’s a crazy good value for you then. It’s good enough for me for the DLC chapters.
  18. Target has 10% off digital gift cards. Went ahead and loaded up on PS Store credit. I’ll be pre-ordering FF7 Rebirth, which includes the first game’s Intergrade edition digitally (I missed out on the DLC earlier). I’ll probably pick up Crisis Core as well. Jedi will go cheaper next year probably, I’ll wait on the Gold edition of Rabbids 2 on similar discount, and Nier Automata’s PC port isn’t bad anymore with mods? I’ll wait for the Steam sale.
  19. Damn it, you all are making it hard for me. I’m considering Crisis Core to blow through it before FF7R. I’m considering the Intergrade DLC too, but not much of a sale there. I thought Jedi was riddled with performance issues? I won’t be subbing to games pass. Fallen Order got dirt cheap eventually.
  20. I'm considering: Nier Automata $16 Crisis Core $30 Jedi Survivor PS5 $35 Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope $15 Any thoughts? Should I avoid Jedi Suvivor or Crisis Core?
  21. Not typically, but in 2023 it doesn’t matter. Everything comes there other than Nintendo stuff.
