Found a deal that was good enough to bite. Gears 5 and Gears Tactics are $5 digital (and physical) on Best Buy’s website right now. Picked up both. Games Pass, I know… but being able to play these games whenever for the price of one month’s sub is a great deal IMO.

Square’s going to shop this around every platform they can gradually, charging as much as they can out of the gate. It’ll probably work too. That’s what the PS5 version with DLC costs right now on Amazon. $45

Looks like I'll be holding off on the Steam sale until the last day again.

The mainstream audience playing it for free.

Need to get around to the second soon, but the first is one of the better Metroidvanias out there. There's some pacing issues towards the end and the combat isn't amazing, but aesthetically, the game really needs to be experienced.

This really shouldn't be a paid upgrade. Feels like you're spending $10 for a movie ticket and get a would-be-free game update on the side.

I think you could cut some slack to it for the single player being closer to an open world affair. That takes a lot more time and resources to build, on top of the additional effort it'd take to optimize it for split-screen/online co-op. There's also the new engine they built for this game... Of course they've also had 6 years. But with what we saw last year, I'd assume not everything was smooth.
