  1. Tried both last night. Mail Mole - Beat the first two worlds and boss fights. Jumping works more like a snowboarding or skateboarding game in my mind, where you hold a button, then release to hop. It's fine for ramps, but kind of frustrating for precision platforming. They could have also tuned the 'run' butter better here. It feels too slow on its own, but slightly too fast when you time it for a boost on landing. Visuals are rough at times. There's polygonal-looking environments, like that world in Mario Odyssey, including all the collectables (weird). And all the characters look like FNAF rejects. I'll keep going, since it's still better than some of the other budget 3D platformers I've tried and gave up on (thinking of Unbox here). Inmost - It's really interesting. There's almost a 2D Prince of Persia heft and length to the animations. I can't say I've played anything like it with its visual style, it's much more more cinematic than I was expecting. The Limbo comparison is apt.
  2. Then why didn't they use them in the Classic? It could be a situation akin to Nintendo's. It's never a good sign to see things moving backwards instead of forwards. All said, I'm very interested to see the PS2 emulator in action. It's one thing to prep an emulator for remasters on a per game basis. It's another to expect it to work more universally on a hard to emulate platform. PCSX2 knows that struggle is real.
  3. Surprised that someone here played Inmost, seems like a hidden gem. Greak looks even more intriguing to me, but the reviews aren’t so great… I’ve been on a bit of a Zelda-like roll lately, with Death’s Door and Turnip Boy. But I also don’t want to burn out them, like I did after beating 3 Metroids back to back last year. (Which is why Guacamelee 2 and Ori 2 are still on the back burner for me)
  4. Started and finished Turnip Boy. Now I'm trying to decide what's next. I definitely want to be done with whatever I start before Xenoblade 3 is out in late July. That said, any recs out of these? ... forgot Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon too, I'd like to play it before I'd start 3 at some point.
  5. Very short Zelda-like with 4 small dungeons and Link's Awakening-esque trading quests. It's a lot like Minit. Turnip Boy is more charming and approachable, but Minit has better puzzles and a better final act. The power-ups are surprisingly cool, but the basic combat sucks. Still fun enough to play through, but I'd say buy it on a discount. 7/10 2022 Death's Door - 8.5/10 Torna: The Golden Country - 9/10 Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion - 7/10
  6. Wish it could be similar too. Sony's older hardware (PS2 and PS3 especially) has too many idiosyncrasies. Microsoft had their own hurdles too, but nothing quite to the same level. I expect PS2 game rollout to be very slow.
  7. "We were gonna get the the XB BC treatment" implies being able play most of your old games, from the disc or otherwise, with compatibility fixes/patches. I think that was crazy to expect for the reasons I gave. But it doesn't sound like you're happy with the slow rollout now either: Although being realistic, it's Sony playing catch up.
  8. Again, that was wishful thinking after the PS Classic, and state of PS2 emulation. It would have been very surprising for them to suddenly drop something as robust as MS has built to.
  9. The 'Extra' tier that Returnal is on works like Games Pass. It's part of a persistent subscription library. It could still come to the basic tier as a redeemable, at some point. But expect basic PS+ tier games to take a nosedive. Like XBL Gold, there's less incentive to put anything good on there.
  10. Console-centric medieval battle rts: Warioland inspired 2d platformer:
  11. New titles in development at 505 Games - Gamersyde WWW.GAMERSYDE.COM We were able to attend a presentation of the 505 Games games currently in development, and it is time to share with you some images and videos. You will discover : Among the Trolls, Stray Blade and Miasma Chonicles. You can also see the 505 Games Spring 2022 Showcase right here.
  12. We're seeing publishers shift games to and fro between services, like movies on different streaming carriers. So I wouldn't be surprised if the 'Ubisoft+ Classics' library is exclusively on PS+Extra... for a limited time. It could also be possible that Microsoft is saving the announcement for their summer showcase. That's the other scenario I could see playing out here.
  13. Scuttlebutt = fanboy wishful thinking. No one should have had faith they'd figure out PS3 compatibility, at the least. We also saw how poor their PS1 emulation was on the PS Classic. Meanwhile, the best PC PS2 emulator today still suffers from input lag it can't seem to shake.
  14. Probably true, but with games this old, their relative worth really depends on what you haven't played yet. There must be a lot of wheeling and dealing around these secondary subscriptions now. I don't like it. If Ubisoft and EA can successfully navigate this, we'll see other publishers follow.
  15. Forspoken confirmed to use FSR 2.0 on PS5, first confirmed title for the platform: Forspoken Load Times Are Barely A Second Long On PS5, Has Multiple Graphics Modes NOVICEGAMERGUIDES.COM During GDC 2022, Luminous Engine's technical director gave a demonstration of some of the technologies that they have incorporated into Forspoken.
  16. They’re plenty useful for what still makes DLSS preferable and for RT acceleration. In fairness, most temporal upscaling solutions have similar motion artifacts.
  17. Kirby 64 reminds me a lot of Dreamland 3. Charming, but kind of bland. You could stack and combine powers though.
  18. Depends on how hard a game leans into RT or UE5(-like) features. That all makes me think this could be more of a resolution/fidelity bump ahead of a target fps decider for the consoles. Most big console games already use some form of temporal reconstruction. I want to see this compared to Epic’s solution at some point.
  19. DF says that FSR 2.0 actually has worse ghosting, but I think it goes to show that neither is entirely perfect.
  20. Yup. Most outlets are saying that still DLSS is preferable due to overall IQ and a slight performance uptick, but not by much. NVIDIA also has a good advantage at the extremes, upscaling from very low res samples or high res downsampling (DLDSR). But FSR supports dynamic resolution, whereas DLSS doesn't. That's a huge win for the console market and mid-range PCs. I'm so happy for what this means for the industry going forward. Finally feels like we have next-gen upscaling that can be used on any platform.
