Capcom Summer 2022 Bundle WWW.HUMBLEBUNDLE.COM We’ve teamed up with Capcom for our newest bundle. Get games like Monster Hunter: World and Devil May Cry 5. Plus, pay what you want & support charity! What an insane bundle. It’s been more than a year since Humble put out something this good. Easily in for the $20, since I own none of the headliners.

It looks faster than Lost World to me, but still more controllable than the Boost Sonic games, less jank than the Knuckles stages in SA2. The most awkward bits are when he has to stop to climb, or when he runs over terrain that is jagged without any sort of resistance. Some momentum inconsistencies too.- 208 replies

Nintendo Everybody 1-2-Switch! Announced. Releases 6/30
crispy4000 replied to Brian's topic in The Spawn Point
Making their own TV-to-mobile party game a la Jackbox isn't a bad idea. It's a better idea than 1-2 Switch ever was, at the least. -
Xenoblade 3 is the next big game I’m prepping for. Going in almost completely dark, which is why I haven’t been bumping its thread with updates. Favorite game I’ve beaten so far this year is Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair. It’s as good at being a Nintendo game as they come, but isn’t limited to their hardware.

General Gaming What are you playing today?
crispy4000 replied to CastlevaniaNut18's topic in The Spawn Point
Tried Dicey Dungeons, which is a decent Slay the Spire alternative that is pretty easy to understand at first. Also started Luigi’s Mansion 2 on my 3DS. It’s weird how foreign that handheld feels now to me, but I’m enjoying the game so far. -

I'll stand my comments that running around in this game looks fun. But the combat ... yikes. It looks atrocious. Damage sponge enemies is an open world trope they should have discarded.- 208 replies

Haven’t watched it yet, but didn’t they say this was 3rd party and VR focused? I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony’s 1st party stuff is backlogged. It’d be expected for Insomniac, Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch at least given the timeframe.

That’s my new deadline to find a PS5 now. I’ll take it.

General Gaming DF: Do we actually need pro consoles this gen?
crispy4000 replied to crispy4000's topic in The Spawn Point
Everything he says about market forces and chip design makes a lot of sense. But in the totality of things, we're seeing both UE5 and RT suggest some inconvenient truths for the current crop of consoles. The dream of developers being able to focus on just their vision, and not asset or lighting budgets, isn't likely to to come to fruition this gen. Just look at how CPU heavy the Matrix demo is, or RT in Hitman 3. I'd imagine there's a lot of internal discussions about whether 'next-gen' tech is even worth it on consoles beyond what the SSDs afford. Even after the cross-gen period. I'm somewhat surprised that Epic convinced as many AAA devs as they have to use UE5 given its current optimization woes. But hey, at least FSR 2.0 is a thing now. -

General Gaming Sonic Frontiers - November 8, 2022
crispy4000 replied to Keyser_Soze's topic in The Spawn Point
As someone who has struggled to really gel with the ‘boost’ sonic games, I can see how their approach here could work out. Because Sonic games have always struggled with stop-and-go syndrome, in both 3D and 2D. They’ve never been elegant. Making an open world jungle gym where you only really stop when you decide to has some potential, I think. I don’t believe that open world design is the answer for most games … quite the opposite. But that footage did convince me that this could work on some level.- 208 replies

Reading around that people think the metal slide ramps everywhere are dumb because they don’t fit the ‘realistic’ aesthetic. As if a bright blue cartoon animal does… I personally love environments with random floating platforms and such everywhere. Even more when I get to interact with them in an organized chaos sort of way.- 208 replies

Looks fantastic to me. There seems to be a good balance between free form movement and on-rails jungle-gym stuff. Hopefully that holds true in the final game. Compare it to this if you really want to see how far Team Sonic has come. They're around in the footage, I think they just chose not to highlight them. A little sparsity is a good thing here, IMO.- 208 replies
