  1. I hard noped out of Human Revolution towards the end of the game (I think?). Some room they dump you after a cutscene, where the enemies already see you and you can’t stealth.
  2. Posting about rollback in SS? Just guessing because your embed isn’t showing for me. Yeah, hopefully it gives the game a new lease on life.
  3. They’ll get their chance. Still, other than some upscaling/aliasing artifacts, this is the best a Switch game has ever looked IMO. I should go back to Torna’s desert section and take some comparison shots. Just out of curiosity.
  4. The side content in this game is amazing, they finally got it right. A good bit of it feels borderline essential to experiencing this game as it should be. Even better, the most important ones are marked for you.
  5. It might best to stick around enemies closer to your level enemies, since you’ll grow your class points more evenly. I’m not rushing into encounters with high level stuff for that reason.
  6. Square Enix Is Looking To Sell Stakes, Potential Buyers Include Sony And Tencent - TwistedVoxel TWISTEDVOXEL.COM Square Enix is currently looking to sell stakes in the company, and potential buyers include the likes of Sony, Tencent, and Nexon. During its Fiscal Year results conference call, Square Enix revealed that it is looking to sell stakes in its studios to potential buyers, such as Sony, in order to improve capital efficiency. It is speculated that Sony, Tencent, and Nexon
  7. That's a common complaint from what I've read. There's been a few unique monsters that gave me trouble, but I'm also happy that battles move quicker than they did in XB2.
  8. If you enjoyed and beat the first, go for it. It got flaws, as you've probably heard, but the payoff is worth it. You'll also get more out of Torna and 3, should you choose to play them later.
  9. Terrible timing for me with Xenoblade 3 out. But in the off chance I put it down, I’d go with God of War now that I have a PS5. I stopped half way through two years ago.
  10. There’s moments it dips framerate a little, but everything is fine for me portably. Resolution is much better than XB2. Going to have to see how docked is.
  11. I’d agree that most of them don’t have amazing plots, but to its credit, XB3 hasn’t really pulled out those tropes yet. Even though I’m sure it’ll get there eventually. There’s some breadcrumbs. As long as a JRPG has fun twists and stakes that push you forward, I’m content. If I get something more, great. Occasionally this series does deliver on that, with its world building and sci-fi plot elements. Just to say it… I’m convinced that a lot of the people that dismiss JRPGs out of turn will also praise Marvel movies as high fiction. There’s room for some cheese across the board. It’s all fantasy fun.
  12. What chapter are you on? I like the opening better than 2, maybe not quite as much as 1.
  13. I’m enjoying the subtle nods to the first two games. Nothing too profound, but it’s interesting how they’ve juxtaposed the two arts systems of each game. And it’s cool to see some similar land mass features make a cameo. Same goes with the characters.
  14. XB2 was likely an issue of them rushing it out, not totally having a handle of the Switch hardware, and being split between it and BoTW. Haven’t played DE, but Torna was a good deal more performant than base XB2.
  15. Emulators aren’t ready for this game at this point from what I’ve read. It’s crash prone, even moreso on the deck. Stutters and poor framerate are issues as well.
  16. I played about that long today too on a car trip. My first impression was that the music is just sublime, even for this series, and the plot set up (which I went in mostly blind on) is awesome. Like an anime Ender’s Game. I only wish you could still cancel auto attacks with control stick movements.
  17. There is that part of it, but if the publisher sends off that code to be reviewed, it’s on them for it to be reviewable. Usually games aren’t patched to improve the controls after an early access period regardless.
  18. Back on topic here, the Xenoblade game are only complex in a depth way if you go after super bosses and the like. There’s tons of systems to tweak and engage with, but you don’t need to be a super fan to understand them as needed, to finish. People opposed to playing a linear JRPG with lots of exploration and MMO-ish combat probably shouldn’t review it. But I don’t see why you’d need to be a fan, other than to make comparisons to prior entries. Unrelated note, but Xenobalde 2 had some pretty nutty ways to break it in the post-game.
  19. I think many if not most reviewers are bad at their jobs, yes. I differ on this idea that reviewers good at their jobs would miss obvious control issues because they lack the time. Not systems level depth. Basic ‘does it play well’ things. There’s been many games with flawed controls I have enjoyed. I think many reviewers today have trouble thinking critically about how it plays when they do.
  20. You shouldn’t need to be some super in-depth fan of the genre to notice many of these things though. That’s when I get annoyed. Even if you just looked at Brawl as a simple arcade game, it’s as straIghtforward as testing if the game is responsive to your inputs. Any action game is owed that due diligence. Otherwise, it’s akin to reviewing RDR2 and not talking about the input lag. (another case in point) It’s a reviewers job to play a game with a critical lens, no matter the experience level they come from. If they can’t bring themselves to do that, they shouldn’t be reviewing it.
  21. It’s only a problem if the reviewer doesn’t enjoy the genre to begin with, or worse, has a bias against it. Sometimes you need a super fan to actually be critical enough. Take reviews of Smash Bros Brawl. None of them even mentioned tripping. Or the input lag in Ultimate for that matter.
  22. I’ve stayed dark on most of the new mechanics, but I really liked Torna’s combat. Hopeful that XB3 hits that high. There’s some kind of class/job system now, right?
