  1. I get the feeling a lot of publishers will target 40fps and say, we did it. VRR people get something, everyone else has 30 that's in theory more stable than prior generations.
  2. Seems like 40fps VRR might be the new 60. Xbox Series S: 1080p/30fps | 40fps on 120hz (51,90Gb) Xbox Series X: 1440p/30fps | 40fps on 120hz (51,90Gb) PS5: 1440p/30fp | 40fps on 120hz (50,03Gb)
  3. Perfect Dark has been fully decompiled, making PC ports and mods possible | VGC T.CO Similar projects have led to PC versions of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time… So that means we've got Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Jak & Dakster. Others like Goldeneye and Banjo Kazooie are close.
  4. The mission structure is so much more compelling than most FPSs today. It looks better in retrospect, aside from the obvious control and framerate issues.
  5. Onmo. Journey meets 3d platformer. Played a demo a few years back, when the lone developer was questioning whether he should finish it. I'm glad they did, it's fantastic so far. One of the easiest to get into games I've played in some time. Controls are perfect. No longer on Games Pass anymore sadly, for those subbing.
  6. Not at all. The game largely focuses on different characters than the first one. A lot of QoL improvements as well. Psyconauts games are like trippy carnival rides. If you like the idea of a game constantly trying to reinvent itself, you’ll dig it.
  7. Psyconauts 2 is prime Double Fine humor and wit. If you like what they’ve produced before, you’ll love it. As an open world 3D platformer, it has its great moments, but a bit too much window dressing IMO. Especially by the end. Haven’t played the new Ratchet, but that’s going to be a lot more combat and action focused.
  8. Attn @stepee This has been out for a while, first I've heard of it.
  9. Best I’ve played is Xenoblade 3, but I’ve got a copy of Elden Ring to get to.
  10. Actually, that could be a great reason to cancel the last gen versions. Even some heavier last-gen games like Avengers and Watch Dogs Legion should have never seen a One S release. There’s a point where it’s simply unacceptable / beyond the hardware.
  11. I remember their first extended demo had steep frame drops when the particle effects got busy. Pre-release, obviously. But they definitely needed to get that under control.
  12. Console gamers have been spoiled for a while, could 'quality mode’ only be the eventual future on these platforms? Elden Ring also deserves a dishonorable mention here for missing its 60fps target so often. But that’s not so surprising given From’s history. Anything I’m forgetting? I’m also very curious to see how this game holds up on Series S.
  13. It'll work with all vendors. Microsoft: DirectStorage 1.1 with GPU Decompression Finally on Its Way WWW.ANANDTECH.COM Moreover, it should be possible to pass those advances off to Series S/X. This could get Microsoft consoles a lot closer to the PS5's SSD capability, albeit at the cost of GPU resources. (PS5 has the advantage of its separate "custom flash controller" accelerating I/O) Multiplatform console games can be designed to push console SSDs to the limits, and PC owners get to feast. This is awesome news.
  14. Man I'm bummed to hear that DLSS3 at 60fps doesn't really hold up imperceptibly. DF is saying the threshold is 80fps. Maybe something could be done to help a 60fps vsync be more convincing?
  15. NVIDIA DLSS 3 "Frame Generation" Lock Reportedly Bypassed, RTX 2070 Gets Double The Frames In Cyberpunk 2077 WCCFTECH.COM NVIDIA recently introduced its new DLSS 3 technology that adds a new feature known as Frame Generation on supported GPUs.
  16. RTX 4090 review: Spend at least $1,599 for Nvidia’s biggest bargain in years ARSTECHNICA.COM Our review also dives deeply into DLSS 3—and how it may affect future Nvidia GPUs.
  17. Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to the Meta Quest - The Verge WWW.THEVERGE.COM Microsoft didn’t say when, but it’s happening. Non-VR xCloud games streamed to a 2d virtual screen inside of a Meta headset. I get the desire to put it on every platform that will work with them, but who is the market for this exactly?
  18. Gotta wonder how they're tabulating Live Gold in these numbers. That would say a lot about game sales and DLC.
  19. Nvidia's trying to use it as a hook for VRR people. I think you can still cap the FPS through the Control Panel? But it doesn't work from in game options.
  20. Really sucks that DLSS3 doesn't (officially?) support Vsync yet. I'd need to see that ironed out before I ever consider buying one of these.
