  1. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/video-games/video-games-on-sale/pcmcat1649105798442.c?id=pcmcat1649105798442 Best Buy: 12 days of gaming deals. First up is Skyward Sword on Switch for $29.99.
  2. I’m done with these sales, ready for Epic to start giving away more freebies.
  3. I'll play devil's advocate on Titanfall 2, my thoughts from closer to when I beat it: Hit the nail on the head. I would have taken a whole game that used the 'watch' mechanic. And that survival kit was so cool, but they only let you use it in a few short corridors. Taking down those smaller Titans as a pilot too. There's that one level where it helps a ton to do it. But the game never challenges you to do it again. Still is a great game, and a shame we won't get another most likely.
  4. Beat the first biome in Returnal. Do people actually replay the bosses in runs? Since you can skip them apparently.
  5. Such a good game. Combat isn’t great and puzzles can get a little contrived by the end, but overall it’s still fantastic.
  6. Still puts in perspective how good of a deal that Bethesda acquisition was, relatively speaking. Microsoft got so many notable western properties and studios out of it. Sony spends half of that, gets one. And they won’t even keep it off Xbox. I don’t see why any FPS-centric gamer would consider going with a PS5 at this point. Sony buys a timed exclusive, then Microsoft buys that same developer.
  7. Think you’re right. The article I read didn’t specify if it’s 200 million annual. Doom Eternal is at 450 mil total, in the 2 1/2 years it’s been out. Overwatch (~800m annual) and Warzone (~2000m annual) are still much bigger than either.
  8. It’s F2P variety, as I said. Apex Legends can compete with Microsoft’s offerings too. But for FPS franchises people will straight up pay for (or Games Pass for?), most of the biggest will be in Microsoft’s stable. Destiny 2 hasn’t even generated half the revenue of Doom Eternal. To say nothing of Overwatch and CoD. Bungie deserves plenty of credit, but as a powerhouse FPS studio, their draw isn’t as big as you’d think today. They’re not at the front of industry trends.
  9. Literally the game I'm getting into right now. I'm enjoying the atmosphere almost to a fault, where I just want to play it slow but can't. Think I'll go do another run right now.
  10. Later Rare platformers were more of a chore. The first Banjo strikes the best balance between collectibles and challenge of any 3D platformer I can think of. It still feels polished to play. Mario 64 is more fun to dick around in, but there’s a finickiness to its controls (and camera) that hasn’t aged well. I could say similar things about other well regarded classics like Super Metroid, but at least in that case, the underlying game is better.
  11. I’ll go with this for now. 1. Final Fantasy VI 2. StarCraft 3. SSBM 4. Xenoblade 1 5. Super Mario Galaxy 2 6. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 7. Hollow Knight 8. Hades 9. Resident Evil 4 10. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 (remake)
  12. Call me crazy, but I actually think Banjo Kazooie is better. It’s aged much better, at least.
  13. I haven’t thought about this in several years. I don’t think much recently would make it for me, and I’ve played some fantastic stuff. Maybe Hades if anything, that game truly fires on all cylinders. Hollow Knight potentially as well. Smash Bros Melee, StarCraft, Xenoblade 1 and Mario Galaxy 2 (the best Mario game full stop IMO) would all make the cut.
  14. I've bounced on and off so many good games lately, just to try each a bit. Ratchet, Fallen Order, Ori 2, Horizon 1, etc. But I think I've finally settled on Returnal being the thing. Metroid Prime vibes + Rogue-like is the perfect combination for me.
  15. They’re not wrong about Microsoft owning a shooter monopoly once they get CoD. The only games that can even remotely hang with their franchises now are of the F2P variety. To which they also own one of the biggest. (Overwatch) That doesn’t make Sony Nintendo. But could put them in a position somewhat like when Sony stole the JRPG from them.
  16. Was the wild area even as bad as this? Doesn’t seem like it from what I’ve seen.
  17. Picked up Ni Nu Kuni Remastered for $5 on Voidu after a 30% off coupon sitewide: (I think?) Flashsale30 Too good of a deal, but knowing my luck it’ll show up in a bundle soon.
  18. If it’s worth anything, I bought the game on PS5 during a sale after I got the PC version free. Couldn’t wait on a new PC build to run it better, it’s too much fun. I booted it up again the other day, it and Returnal are the games I want to get back to most now.
  19. Never played Sword and Shield, but with the way people described them, you’d think they’d look like this. Just that opening shot DF used from it really puts this game’s visual shortcomings in perspective.
  20. Clearly the promise of it being on PSN Extra someday didn’t dissuade people from picking it up now.
