  1. I honestly don't know how well a modern day Splinter Cell or Prince of Persia could sell, because it's been ages. If EA could remake Dead Space today, Ubisoft can give some of their dormant franchises a shot. Instead we get Skull & Bones, because Ubisoft believes we all want more Assassin's Creed adjacent games and spin-offs.
  2. Or don't, because they're as stale as the Ubisoft open-world template. I'd love to see them go back to making good (wide) linear games and platformers. Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Rayman deserve a hell of a lot better. As does Beyond Good & Evil.
  3. [EXCLUSIVE] Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings And The Lost Ocean Remake Is In Development - eXputer.com EXPUTER.COM Sources have confirmed that a remake of Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean is being developed for the Nintendo Switch. I'm all for it. Origins is a much better game though, so I hope we get that too. Only made it halfway through it, but I'd be interested in starting over.
  4. Why Ubisoft is Delaying and Cancelling its Games - Insider Gaming INSIDER-GAMING.COM Why is Ubisoft cancelling and delaying its games? Insider Gaming speaks with current and former employees to understand why. It gets worse. Publishers that chase trends like this deserve to be kicked down a notch. No one learned from Battleborn.
  5. @stepee Because I was curious, here's all the FSR2 games lacking DLSS at the moment, according to PC gaming wiki. I'm not counting FSR1, because it's simpler to implement, and those devs may have stopped there anyways. It's both better and worse than I thought. There's a few too many, but many of them aren't pushing hardware so much, besides Callisto, Scorn and Saints Row. EDIT: Upcoming games. Jedi Survivor is on this list.
  6. That's some BS. This is definitely a game I'd want to see the whole host of upscallers available for, XeSS included, in case one handles the particle mess in this game better. And FFXV was one of the first games to have DLSS to begin with!
  7. Fire Emblem Engage Reviews OPENCRITIC.COM Fire Emblem Engage is rated 'Strong' after being reviewed by 36 critics, with an overall average score of 82. It's ranked in the top 14% of games and recommended by 83% of critics. Off to a good start.
  8. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still coming, as Ubisoft cancels three games | PCGamesN WWW.PCGAMESN.COM Beyond Good and Evil 2, the long-awaited platformer sequel from Ubisoft, is still in development, as Skull and Bones gets delayed and three games are cancelled
  9. Yeah that one. I was switching off between it and Luigi’s Mansion 2. Ghost catching feels so much better in Luigi, no contest.
  10. I'm making my way through 2 right now. It's pretty good, certainly better than the Ghostbusters game. But I hear 3 is the one that's something special. First game is interesting, but suffers from being a launch title that's over too soon.
  11. The Switch's best games were front loaded for quite a while. The console did little for me for several years. Basically it became my wife's Animal Crossing machine, and my occasional Hades / Torna / Slay the Spire portable. So I can see it. That's changed today, with Metroid Dread and Xenoblade 3 being 9.5 / 10 games to me. Luigi's Mansion 3 and Forgotten Land have my interest. Breath of the Wild 2 is on the way, Pikmin 4 is as well, so is the stand-alone XB3 DLC. All this has gotten me to play more Switch recently, including a few second-shelf titles I've been putting off (ie: Mario Rabbids, Origami King, Age of Calamity). Far as I'm concerned, they're back. I only wish they got to this point sooner, their games got real discounts, and we had better hardware by now.
  12. You said you haven't enjoyed their games since the Gamecube. If you've given any Nintendo games since a fair shot, then let's actually talk about specific ones. It's better than beating around the bush. If that's not the case, all we can do on the other end is say you've missed out on some amazing games (and new franchises) over the years, many being all-time greats IMO. And not just on Switch either. When did you actually go dark on Nintendo?
  13. Making progress in Fallen Order, just made it to the second Zeffo chamber. Still really digging this game.
  14. Torna's combat is still the best, but only marginally so. XB3's main gameplay flaw is that chain attacks are boring. Optional, but boring. I feel like they need to bring back the risk/reward of the first game, where using chain attacks drained your party revival meter. XB3 makes it more of a get out of jail free card. Great game in any case. If XB3's is expansion as much of an improvement as Torna was to XB2, I'm going to be very happy.
  15. Go play the Xenoblade games. You have an excellent remaster of the first game on the system to start with. Probably shouldn’t be complaining if you haven’t at least given them a shot. Monolith Soft is Nintendo’s Insomniac Games, in terms of how they support the system and how well they know the hardware. Their output has been bonkers lately.
  16. There’s a lot more Nintendo games I’d play and enjoy if they dropped in price as they should at this point. The Switch hasn’t been as exciting for me as many of their past consoles, perhaps for that reason. It doesn’t help that their Mario Sports games since Aces have been half baked. Mario Party sounds equally underwhelming when it was prime for a comeback. Smash Ultimate input lag was a killjoy for me. And with online subscription fees now, I don’t think I’m interested in Splatoon anymore. On the positive, we got Mario Odyssey, Metroid Dread, 3D Kirby that works, and a stellar slate of Xenoblade games. Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion and Fire Emblem all got strong entries. And two Mario+Rabbids games that were better than they had any right to be, maybe even moreso as a Ubisoft colab. BoTW is also great in spite of being a different flavor, but I’d sooner count the sequel as a genuine Switch title. This is way too reductive though. They’ve been at least a strong second place in their 1st party output the last decade. Truth be told, the quality of their games hasn’t changed much since the GameCube era. Except for Mario and Zelda, which have been on the up ever since.
  17. I really hope they can pick themselves up from this. There's clearly a lot of talent there to ship a bonafide next-gen game out of the gate. I just hope they get a second crack at it unlike Ready at Dawn.
  18. Ragnarok bundles of the digital are in stock currently in several places. That's what Sony would rather push. But if you just want the console itself, it's still much easier now than a year ago. As a side note, I don't buy the idea that the console manufactures purposefully hold back production for successful SKUs. It was a BS notion in the Wii's heyday, it likely still is today. If Sony didn't want the digital editions to sell, they wouldn't be packaging new bundles with it.
  19. Microsoft's said it was promotional holiday pricing, but it could stick. They're even selling it $10 cheaper on their store currently. Configure your Xbox Series S | Xbox WWW.XBOX.COM $300 was too high for it relative to a $400 PS5 from a value standpoint IMO. $250 sounds about right, especially considering we're leaving the cross gen. Maybe they phase in a new model at some point to make better on their 1440p machine target.
  20. $299 is not half of $399. Sure, there was a holiday drop to $250 for Series S, but apples-to-apples comparisons should still be to the PS5 digital edition. I think we can thank Microsoft for putting pressure on Sony to price it as they did. Also, correct me if if I'm wrong, but the last time we got Series X/S LTD sales estimates from a reputable source was January 2022. Xbox Series X|S Reaches 12 Million Shipped, Analyst Says - GameSpot WWW.GAMESPOT.COM That compares to a figure--13.4 million for the PS5--that was announced last year. The numbers I'm seeing quoted more recently come from the bullshitz generator.
  21. Two of those studios make linear games, to be fair. Engine optimization also has a lot to do with it. UE4 has been a bit dodgy with open world games. When developers don't go far enough to optimize/modify it, we see stuff like Gotham Knights and Ark come out. I expect Forspoken will look better than FFXV on the whole. But if it was upscalling from a higher base resolution, I could see the visuals popping in a more 'next-gen' way. They could be making the wrong artistic choices considering. Hopefully the final product fares better, but I'm really waiting to see the PC build at this point.
