  1. Newly leaked CCTV footage has emerged that appears to show a man leaving the Saudi consulate in Istanbul wearing the clothes of the murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
  2. Amid rising alarm over Donald Trump’s announced withdrawal from a key nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, the Republican chair of the Senate foreign relations committee said he hoped it was “just a move” to achieve a new deal, in the way the president threatened then renegotiated the Nafta trade agreement. “This could be a precursor to try to get Russia to come into compliance,” said Bob Corker, of Tennessee.
  3. Far Cry 2 was way ahead of its time (Polygon) Instead the influence of Far Cry 2 can be felt all through gaming. From survival games to battle royale and even some of the most popular action games and RPGs of the last several years, everything seems to take a little piece of Far Cry 2. But, since it came out in 2008, not 2018, Far Cry 2 is doomed forever to be disastrously ahead of its time. Forgotten in name, but certainly not in legacy. Far Cry 2's daring open world design is still paying off 10 years later (PC Gamer) Even where there isn’t direct influence from sitting down and playing Far Cry 2, there are few designers who haven’t at least heard whispered tales of what it accomplished and what it showed was possible. It may have spawned several official sequels over the past decade, but the true legacy of Far Cry 2 is the freedom it quietly inspired.
  4. Nvidia has quietly announced a new graphics card: the GTX 1060 GDDR5X. This new graphics card from the green team has been spotted within Nvidia’s own specs sheet for Nvidia’s popular GTX 1060, although little else is known about the card beyond its faster memory spec.
  5. I'll have to review my Islamic history, but I'm pretty sure that the Arab/Turk rivalry for the pole position of Sunni Islam was very much an issue as the Ottoman Empire rose. The fact of the matter is that the House of Saud's claim to stewardship of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina is largely based on the family's wars of unification rather than any religious authority.
  6. The maker of Papers, Please has created a new masterpiece (Polygon) Return of the Obra Dinn takes the whodunit’s conventions and twists them into kaleidoscopic narratives that are perplexing and delightful. This isn’t merely a great game, it’s the work of an intense and creative intelligence.
  7. One of the outcomes of this entire Khashoggi affair is just how thoroughly it appears that Turkish intelligence services had bugged Saudi diplomatic facilities if the amount of audio evidence the Turks claim to have actually exists. I'd imagine that any embassy/consulate that does not routinely conduct bug sweeps must have been pretty damned busy over the last two weeks to figure out if they have a similar problem as well.
  8. "We are looking for justice here and this will be revealed in all its naked truth, not through some ordinary steps but in all its naked truth," Erdogan added.
  9. I seem to recall that this is class of weapon is more valuable to Russia than to the US, @CayceG?
  10. What a gift to the Kremlin this is. Russia can develop and deploy this class of weapons at will now.
  11. By the way, I'm not kidding. You give me that much money and there will be blood!
  12. Let's just say that a lot of people that none of us will mourn will start having unfortunate, fatal "accidents".
  13. I just want to point out that this topic pops up on ResetERA about once a month
  14. @Brick - OK, I'll grant you the CoD campaigns as being damned fun for what they are, but DICE has swung and missed with the campaigns for BF3, BF4, and BF1. It's really not worth the effort or considerable resources to keep at it.
